we've had a few bottles of porfidio since 2013. they do not have a NOM on the bottle (read about the porfidio conspiracy) bottle numbers of the two I have currently are 10,193 and 14,826 https://www.tequila.net/tequila-news/latest/discussions/review.html?id=3194 one of the bottles we tried was an anejo "Puerto Vallarta" another was just "jalisco"
Older bottle at ATM provided by Jay Silverman. Real deal Tequila from around 20 years agp.
Green bottle NOM 1462
Aroma: sweet butterscotch, citrus and agave. Palate: agave, citrus, caramel. Finish: some spice, butterscotch and caramel.
Lots of oak - not terrible, but disappointing, if you like scotch buy it
1990s plata version from (tall blue frosted bottle) NOM856 Todd hunter import Not so much in the nose but agave was present, Earthy flavors stranded out in the front end, expected more heat at the end. Over all a good sipper
100% agave spirits made in India, from Desmond Nazareth and Porfidio founder Martin Grassl.
I thought I liked this "agave spirit" when I first tried it back in 2014?!?!? however, after revisiting it today, it is really awful, undrinkable! if I would have been drinking this blind, I would not have known it was tequila. no joke! perhaps it was because it was from a bottle that was open for quite some time. at any rate, I cannot recommend this
