This is a gem. Perfectly balanced. Carlos created the pinnacle of the G4 line. Much better than the 5 year one. So much complexity yet light in color. Nose matches the palate beautifully. Cooked agave, cinnamon, fig, citrus, yams, mocha, butterscotch, plantains, just so much going on with every sip and every minute in between. Pricier than the 5 year G4, but huge difference as this 55 blows that away. Worth every penny!

Tried this side by side with G4 XA. Honestly like the XA better. Less wood notes more cooked agave. Or to say the 55 has more wood notes and less cooked agave flavors, still over all balance and structure.

Bottle#771 Nose: Fruity agave leaps out at you on first whiff, with just the faintest trace of bourbon oak. There are incredible spice and fruit notes: dark berries, ripe Rainier cherries, vanilla, citrus, white pepper and cedar shavings. Minerals and earth in the background. Flavor: Jerk seasonings, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, red pepper flakes, salted caramel, almonds and leather in an oily, mouth coating experience. This is thick and creamy and kissed with honey. The 55 months in the barrel has in no way obscured the rich agave that was clearly meant to be showcased. Pretty close to perfection.

Aroma : Cooked agave, oak, black pepper, caramel and some light fruit. Taste : Cooked agave still comes through after 5 years in barrel. I also get some black pepper, oak, butterscotch and leather, and the texture is full and oily. Finish : Long with more agave and some light alcohol heat. FINALLY got a bottle of this after looking for so long. This a wonderful agave forward XA. Priced a bit high, but if you're a G4 fan it's worth it.

Damn. I've always been a G4 fanboy but everyone should love this juice. It's rare that a tequila aged this long can retain that agave goodness. It's not overly sweet. It's not tainted with color or sweeteners. Perfect balance full of mint, oak, cooked agave, vanilla, soft minerality, sweet pepper, and hardly any heat for a 90 proof. If this was less expensive I would drink it every day. Worth the price of admission though just to have this experience. Thank you Felipe and family.

This is the very Limited "55" XA, aged for 4.58 years in used uncharred white oak American bourbon barrels. Not over oaked or heavy barrel notes. NOSE- vanilla, caramel, smoke, light alcohol, whiskey/bourbon sweetness, spice, sweet cooked agave , honey, light leather, light fruit, light cinnamon, butterscotch. TASTE- medium to thick oil, sweet, smoky, leather, silky and easy to drink for high proof, honey, light fruit, spice, caramel, vanilla and buttery, some minor heat on the back end with a medium finish. Delicious!!

Oak and alcohol and caramel aromas. Concentrated flavors of oak and savory vanilla.

I had the anejo earlier in the week and fell in love with G4. Had the XA and the 55 a few days later, and both were delicious, but I was still expecting a little more. I will give both another try...

I got a bottle for a very special dinner. This is amazing and a special variation on G4. Can I say it’s F’n delicious?! Higher proof and a little hot on the finish. This is clearly very special! One of only 720 bottles in the world, I opened it for a once in a lifetime dinner and I’m grateful to do so.

Purchase directly from El Pandillo at an excellent price. My bottle is not the 55. It is a limited release aged 5 years wit 45 % alcohol like the 55. Still very present agave and a very long finish. I have a slight throat cold And I will re evaluate this later. very nice.

Reminds me of ElTesoro 70 and Tapatio - the Camerena cousins make some damn fine tequila and know how to make an XA that still tastes of agave. My one knock is cost but happy to pay it

What an offering from Felipe and his amazing crew! Extremely lucky to have a bottle for my personal collection. Thanks to his use of nearly-retired barrels and minimal intervention, this extra añejo is really subtle but extremely refined. The nose bombards you with cooked agave and slight hints of vanilla and honey. The palate is soft and elegant. Agave forward with notes of vanilla, subtle cinnamon and the most delicate barrel spice. A must try and a truly legitimate expression of barreled agave....no BS with zero additives/artificial flavoring/colorings/etc. El Pandillo at its finest.

Rare bottle here, only around 700 made. Not the typical offering from G4 . . Decent amount of barrel on this one, but still the agave shines through and isn’t too sweet. I typically don’t love XAs, but this one is pretty special.
