Patron and Pernod Ricard are among the tequila producers leading the age-statement charge.
Despite the winning combination of low-to-the-ground barrels and atmospheric temperatures, Patrón Extra Añejo 7 Años was made in just 30 barrels in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico.
Aroma is floral and sweet with little or no agave present. Very smooth with a nice sweet/spice flavor. The finish has a relatively strong bitter aftertaste. The finish is medium to long. This is a nice XA but compared to any of the Alteña XAs (Ocho, anniversary, etc) tasted last week this one falls short. Also, at ~$250 it is priced above any of those. 12-30-2017
