Muted nose, medicinal, spices, oak and sweet (caramel/vanilla) profile. Was expecting a lot more from it…

Aroma: Up front, the nose has elements of earthy agave, lime with a salt pinch, a subtle minerality, and a notable presence of anise. Flavor: The flavors are pleasant with a touch of sweetness, with a complex blend of agave, anise, light pepper, and a creamy consistency. Finish: Strong flavors of anise on the finish, as well as agave, mint, honey, and citrus. Overall: A testament to what Patrón can do when they focus on quality. It is a true shame that Roca Patrón has been discontinued.

On the nose, Agave, minerals, grapefruit. Then a distinct brine, almost like a ham note that I’ve gotten with a lot of islay scotches. No smoke though. Some floral aromas, definitely a saline note. A bit of butter as it opens up some more. On the palate, the cooked agave is there but it is really part of the medley of flavors as opposed to standing out as the star. Cinnamon, citrus. Definitely getting that minerality and a vegetal note that I like, similar to jalapeño. Some earthiness, very oily and naturally sweet. A light bitter note which I don’t love, but it’s not over the top. It’s mostly on the finish. Overall, this is quite good. It stops just slightly short of being “excellent” on the finish, but the flavor really starts to explode as it opens up, and the nose is very good. I would love to keep this on hand, it’s quite good, but the price is definitely the major drawback. Overall a competent and quite tasty blanco, very oily and full flavored and bodied. I may have to revisit this in a blind, it’s been about 15-20 minutes and it keeps getting a little bit better and more interesting.

Aroma is first lemony, lactic, and mineral. Then agave abd mint comes through. Flavor is first a nice earthy agave then an eye gouging burn with flavors if pepper, Jalapeño and agave once again once tge burn subsides. The finish has less burn than the initial kick. Overall still pleasantly suprised and find this one very interesting.

This is much more full bodied than regular Patron Silver. If you like Patron and want to adventure what it would be with a little bit more complexity, this is for you.

Bit of nail polish on those nose. Not much in the way of agave, earth, or citrus. Flavor however is quite pleasing, warm, sweet, floral. Long warm finish that’s well rounded. Price ain’t so hot. Better options for less money IMO.

I wish it wasn’t so expensive because this could possibly be my “everyday” tequila, if it was $30 cheaper. On the nose, there really isn’t much there. Agave, pepper, minerals and brine. But i had to hunt and peck. The palate had agave up front with lots of peppery spice and citrus. It coated my mouth well, but the finish was a tad short. I’m being critical because of the price point. However, I’m giving it a higher rating because of the higher ABV, which personally i like.

Nose: Caramelized agave is the dominant note on entry. Shortly after, minerals and sweet thyme kick in. Quite aromatic with floral notes and trace vanilla or caramel. Flavor: Spicy and peppery. Sweet, natural, creamy agave fills your palate. Vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg follow. Finish: Pepper, creaminess and spices linger, with an additional suggestion of anise. Slight bitterness at the tail end.

Completely neutral on the nose, after that an explosion of agave flavour and a long, rich finish. I would drink way more of this if it was cheaper.

I find the aroma to be somewhat lacking but the flavor and finish were nice. I purchased this bottle on sale for $50 but it normally sells for around $65. The price brings its overall rating down.

Rated blind in Riedel Overture Glass: Crystal clear. Lots of big beautiful bubbles hang at the top of the bottle and the top of the pour. A few remain for a surprising length of time. Coats the glass well with large tears forming quickly and flowing into thick widening legs, leaving a large number of pearls hanging in the glass. Aroma: Huge agave notes dominate, pretty exclusively, with no defects or metallics. The brighter more vegetal agave notes present early (faint green apple/apple/pear, light grapefruit, hints of wet grass and celery) giving way a bit after opening up to allow the cooked agave notes to come through (light butter, warm slow cooked starches like brown sugar), with a white pepper note throughout. Entry: This enters smooth and warm with a medium viscosity. Flavor: Flavor very much follows the aroma, with the additional note of a slight minerality. Not very complex, but a very pure and bold representation of the agave. Finish: Descends smoothly with no burn or heat. No alcohol notes or effects ever present themselves. The finish is long and peppery with the pure agave flavors represented. Slightly dry on top of the palate. Wet with notes of butter and mineral water around the edges of the palate. Conclusion: An excellently crafted, pure, bold and uncluttered representation of agave. Thoroughly enjoyable. At $60 however, this does lose some points on value.

Peppery citrus agave clean crisp 90 proof like it! Agree with Alejandro Nunez that it gets better!... Could be because of the higher alc content...

I was a bit disappointed at first... It tasted too diluted... Watery... But as I kept on drinking, it got better and better. SOLID.

Aroma: This has a very interesting aroma. I get notes if raw agave, earth (dirt, clay), and also slightly floral and acidic. I feel like I can tell this is higher proof because there is a strong alcohol note that's fairly hot. Flavor: Very minty. There's also a slight hint of raw agave and a little pepper. Finish: The finish is very smooth and lingers for a bit. The higher alcohol content definitely makes it hang around but not overpowering at all. Conclusion: I think this suffers from the Patron complex. It's a good tequila but just way overpriced for what it is. I love the higher proof but I would much rather have the Tapatio 110 for half the price.

Deep agave aroma along with anise and some floral undertones. Also, something that smells almost like clay. Thick, syrupy texture with spice/black pepper flavor. After all the aroma notes, the flavor is pretty unexceptional. A bit disappointing. Medium finish that stays in far forward in your mouth. Over-proof is undetectable to me. Not bad at all but pricey for what it is. Would like to try this side-by-side with standard Patron.

Lote: BCOR 0070818, bottled on 03-11-2018. Aroma: initially ethanol sensation is very high, I let it sit for 30 minutes and it opened up just a bit, raw cooked agave, very green, despite having been oxygenated the ethanol sensation is still high compared to aromas. Palate: very light hint of raw agave, fresh cut grass, medium high ethanol sensation that is invasive. Maybe have to wait another hour to know if it opens up more?! Finish is medium to long, ethanol aromas and light raw agave persist.

Roca Patron Blanco Overall: A quality blanco from Patron, but a high price tag tamps down its overall rating. Tahona crushed, stone brick oven, copper pot still bottled at 45%ABV. Once you get over the price point, this is a solid offering. Aroma: Soft sweetness with hints of smoke, thyme, and chocolate on the initial. A little salt, white pepper, and minerality come through. Wish I had more time progress through this further. Taste: I get a well balanced, creamy mouthfeel that feels creamy. Lovey pepper spice and mild agave sweetness. The minerality mixes in with some cinnamon spice and a light smoke and citrus. Slight vegetal notes dance around, perhaps a mix of green olive and jalapeno. Finish: Dry black pepper and a little minerality.

Blind taste tested with other high proof blancos. Aroma- lighter, cooked agave, alcohol, better if you sniff from the bottom of the glass Taste- viscous mouth feel, agave, anise Finish- agave miel, anise, alcohol punch at the end Overall- What you want in a high proof, very agave forward. It’s a shame these appear to be disappearing.

Well made, tastes great, but it’s about $10-15 more than it’s peers, so I doubt I’d buy it again, unless it’s on sale.
