NOM 1439 2014 This XA is very good. I have 2 bottles left. need to open and revisit at some point, as it's been several yrs since I've had this.

Another gem from Corrido. This time coming from NOM 1436. Well balanced despite some initial oaky smoke, but retains the agave on the nose and palate. Mocha, figs, cherry, apple pie, cinnamon, tobacco, baseball glove, raisin, pepper, butterscotch, almond, such a special treat.

NOM 1439 | Barrel #9 Luscious long slow legs. Nose: Barrel oak undercurrents. Ripe peaches, vanilla and leather. Subtle baking spices. Flavors are vibrant and complex: Agave shines, with vanilla and almond cream, white pepper, and nutmeg. The oak aging wraps it all up into a memorable and balanced package. I had waited a very long time to try any Corrido. I had high expectations, and they were exceeded.

NOM 1439 | I have tasted from 6 or 7 different barrels of this Extra Añejo and they have all been excellent. I just aquired a barrel 1 bottle that I am eager to compare to a couple of other barrel #s I and some friends have.

NOM 1526 | Aroma: Strong note of butterscotch with a hint of cherry. It's also slightly smokey. Flavor: The oak and smoke are very prevalent. In all honesty it's slightly a let down after such a pleasing aroma. Finish: Long and smooth. Overall it's a decent XA but another one that's just not for me. The flavor is just too barrel heavy which I guess is to be expected of something that's been aged for a while. It's definitely something that I would recommend to my Whiskey drinking friends.

NOM 1526 | Immediate, distinct aroma of butterscotch. Overwhelming taste of whiskey. Finish is short and over. This is a tequila to use with your whiskey-loving friends. Not for me.

NOM 1526 | Crazy peppery, and yet amazingly mellow considering the spice. Totally sippable.

NOM 1526 | In the words of Project Runway's Nina Garcia, this tequila tastes "expensive". But it isn't, terribly.

This is the tequila that opened me up to sipping. Held for 9 years before opening. Gone in days. Loads of vanilla, oak, and agave. Long finish. I'd buy 2 at today's price if it existed anywhere I could get my hands on it.

NOM 1526 | A bit of butterscotch and vanilla on the nose, with an over-powering heat that degrades the flavor slightly. I was able to pick up pepper and sweet fruit along with several spices. As for the finish, from my perspective, it disappoints (for an extra añejo).

NOM 1526 | Great overall tequila but not worth the price difference over the anejo. $250 for this tequila is insane!

NOM 1526 | My first XA, I was surprised how spicy it seemed , I have been comparing it to others but I don't seem to like it for 85 dollars. I'm excited to taste the anejo corrido since it is at Almost have the price. Flavored detected...lots of butterscotch , pepper, some vanilla.

NOM 1439 | The legs on this tequila are phenomenal. The viscosity is medium thick and the color is deeply amber. The nose is strongly vanilla with a whiff of butterscotch. Certainly smell the agave from the third position but the agave blends nicely with oak scent. This is definitely a tequila for single malt lovers. The taste is terrific. This is unmistakably sweet I almost taste a bit of hard candy. There is medium heat in the mouth and it feels thick. There is a lush almost licorice taste. It has a longer finish but the finish is subtle and never overpowering.

Review #205 - Corrido Tequila Extra Anejo

It's not secret that I'm in love with the Corrido line of tequilas. In my opinion, it's the best tequila out there for the money.

Corrido is a formidable new kid on the tequila block

During the time of U.S. Prohibition, the Corrido, a musical form of Mexican folklore, often honored the tequilero, or tequila smugglers, who gained popularity along the border. The "smugglers" of Corrido tequila are hoping for a similar popularity.
