Really nice, plenty of barrel flavors with some chocolate and mint. Well done.

Nose: alcohol / oak & vanilla/ caramel/ cherry / lemon / orange blossom/ sea salt Taste: black pepper / agave (cooked) / caramel/ dried fruit / apple / mint / honey / agave sweetness Finish: clean minty / coats mouth and stays to party with your teeth / I thoroughly enjoy Widow Jane Bourbon and this crossover is fantastic. Because I like Widow Jane so much I can literally taste the same barrel notes between the bourbon and this mashup expression. The reposado version might be a little better, but this is a great anejo to help bourbon people cross the bridge to tequila.

This was a splurge bottle for me. Not much of a bourbon guy but when I do drink bourbon it is usually Widow Jane. The barrel notes on the nose give a nice aroma of sweetness, caramel and oak. The taste also has that sweetness of cooked agave and vanilla along with caramel. Nice velvety mouthfeel. I will be very sad when this bottle is gone.

Aroma of straight from the horn cooked agave with trails of cedar, pine, and clean straw. Flavor of nice strong agave with mint, cinnamon, vanilla, and though I've never tasted cedar, cedar. Beautiful expression without coming across overbarreled or tannic. A lighter Anejo for sure but holds it's own.

On the aroma I gathered cooked agave, bourbon, soft minerality, wood/oak, caramel, appetizing chocolate cordials, light yeast funk, anise, with a bit of ethyl/alcohol sting in the nostrils, and almonds. The initial palate taste is honey bourbon, cooked agave with milk chocolate cordial tones, a jalapeño vegetal peppery heat drapes the tongue and compliments the sweetness Tingly pepperiness fades away subtely with, soft minerality, minute honey whiskey tone, warmed caramel, nearly indiscernible brine, cream soda, cocoa, a bit of freshness and earthiness. Not overtly complex in smell, but the taste is spicy and gourmand.

This is one awesome bottle! Tons of barrel spice but the agave is not only present, but the star of the show. For price and availability, it’s hard to beat Ocho. The 2022 Naciemento harvest yielded some awesome results!

After not tasting much for the last few months due to some illness and other issues this is a revelation and for me likely rates as the best Añejo ever released in the Ocho product line. This has all the punch of the first Puntas and even more of the best barrel flavors from the WJ Reposado carried by the 48% ABV. Worth the effort to track some down.

Nose- nice aroma of cooked agave, green olive, oak, caramel, vanilla, spices, cherry, and a touch of minerality. Palate- black pepper, alcohol, agave, sweetness, fruit, baking spice, and oak. This was my opening drink of the night, so I gave three sips before judging and allowed the glass to open for 10 minutes. Finish- normal mouthfeel. Little heat on the gums at the very end. Enjoyable but very high expectations because of its little brother: WJ Repo. Nice expression but doesn’t quite reach as a standout like the Reposado did.

Revised 1/4/25 - Great nose & pallet: butterscotch, caramel, cinnamon, creamy/spicy barrel notes, way nicer than first open/sip. Medium to long finish with agave, black pepper, cinnamon spice on the back end, creamy mouthfeel. Top tier anejo, worth the msrp all day if you can find it.

I originally was going to score a 92, but price point pushes this up a point, to get this amazing tasting limited Anejo for under $120 is an exceptional value. Great spices, caramel, vanilla notes. Long finish, definitely picks up more barrel notes than the Widow Jane Reposado, sitting just 12 months in those barrels. over all winner. Salud Tequila Ocho

For me, this one has more going on than the WJ Reposado. The Carmel, oak and burnt notes are a bit more abundant and the agave is there but noticeably more subtle than the WJ reposado but it is still present. This is made for sipping on a night by the fire or in cold weather.

Simply excellent. Instantly among my favorite Añejos. The high proof is doing its thing, but the flavors have a nice sweet and spicy balance.

Beautiful barrel notes, caramel, oak, little bit of agave on nose. Some sweetness right at the beginning with a slight bitterness mid palate and finishes with a gorgeous pepper warm lingering finish. This is a treat and everything I hoped it to be. This is worth finding. Scored 92 but bumping to 93 for price. At $80, this is the Añejo.

Tequila Ocho Widow Jane Añejo - 48% ABVñ This tequila's bouquet is a melody of aromas. Caramelized agave invite you into a warm welcome, while vanilla and nuances of baking spices, including cinnamon and nutmeg also say hi. The butterscotch notes add a touch of sweetness, setting the stage for a great olfactory experience. The first sip is delicious, with layers of flavor that show a rich profile. The sweetness of caramel and vanilla seamlessly intertwines with notes of sweet citrus, maple, white pepper and the velvety sensation of cherry and almonds. (Reminds me of an elegant chocolate too). The barrel imparts depth, and a subtle charred note leads to a refined finish, accentuated by barrel spice. At 48% ABV, this tequila strikes a perfect balance, contributing to the overall great profile. Cheers to a truly exceptional Ocho tequila!

Bottle# 2,398. Awesome tequila. Lots going on. Cinnamon and spice with vanilla on the nose. Taste has lots of barrel spice, cinnamon, vanilla, oak, while still maintaining the agave flavor. Nice punch of flavor and long finish from the 48% that leaves you wanting more.

Bottle 388- The smell, taste and finish are wonderful. Cooked agave, vanilla, Caramel with a great bourbon follow. This is a great follow up (even better) than the Widow Jane Repo. Thank you Mr Camarena for this finely crafted gem!!
