The aroma is pleasant and yet is prominent with potent oak, whiskey, caramel, honey, cherry, pineapple, licorice, chocolate, hazelnut and ethyl that seethe through. The taste on the palate is not far from the smell with oak, maple, honey, barrel spice, strong alcohol, and peppery burnings in the throat and on the tongue. The finish oozes with barrel molasses but eventually rolls into tasteful minerality and minute brine. Too much oak for my liking, but not offensive. I prefer the Anejo over this.

The nose is very nice, oak and cooked agave, like a combination of bourbon and tequila. The taste is typical XA flavor profile nothing surprising. The finish is shorter than I expected though, good value.

It's literally just fine. A little on the thin side, light on the agave. Grab some El mayor and save your self some money instead.

Fantastic nose. Agave, almonds, minerals, light vanilla, butterscotch. But another patron falling flat on the palate after a great nose. Very short linger.

Aroma: Caramel, butterscotch. Oak, toffee. Fruity bourbon notes that are very reminiscent of Barbados rum to me. Cooked agave. Then whiskey as I drink. Palate: Definitely a lot hotter than I expected for an XA. The caramel is there, cooked agave is light but noticeable. Definitely has some very bourbon like notes to it, front and center. I get the same “feeling” drinking this that I get with sipping bourbon. Good bit of barrel spice, and that whiskey note definitely saturates it. Very oily. Verdict: This is good, but definitely cost prohibitive and too whiskey like for me. If I knew somebody who wanted to give tequila a shot and they’re coming from a whiskey background, I’d have no problem sharing this with them, it fits the bill. As it stands, the agave is too lost in the spicy whiskey and barrel notes. It’s good, don’t get me wrong, but for the price, I don’t think it touches something like the ArteNOM añejo, or even Tonala for drinkability. I much prefer the Roca añejo over this bottling, but not disappointed that I snagged a 375ml. Definitely will be trying this in an old fashioned.

Aroma: Sweet cooked agave, slight amount of caramelized green apple. Taste: Clean but also very light on flavor initially. Finish: Very nice finish of sweet notes of caramelized green apple from the aroma, warm alcohol burn similar to whiskey. Overall: Quite a nice tequila actually, though the flavors are light, the aromas and finish are very nice. An enjoyable sipper and worth it for the right price. Much less flavor than other extra añejos though.

This is a heavy full bodied XA in my opinion, not a favorite. Too much wood and not enough agave flavor

I was really looking forward to trying this XA. But, sadly, Piedra outshines it by a big margin. Too bad. I think Patron is wasting a good opportunity to excel. Bought it on sale for $60, and I think I wasted my money. Very aromatic, but fell flat on its face. I highly recommend you spend your money on another XA.

Oak is steering this ship from beginning to end, I didn’t pick up any roasted agave which makes me think this is spending its life in virgin oak. Great for all the bourbon fans out there.

English breakfast tea, fugi apple, caramel

with the cacophony of barrels and fermnetation methods this tequila presents a confused yet abrasive character. very little of this appeals to my desire to taste the history, terroir or simply the agave, especially at this price point.

Amazing aroma of Carmel, agave and cinnamon. Hints of smoke and fruit. A little pricy but glad I got to taste it.
