Nose: Oak, Agave, Pepper, Toffee, Mint, Chamomile Tea Mouthfeel: Light Bodied Palate: Oak, Carmel, Chocolate, Tea Finish: Oak, Black Pepper, Carmel Tea This was a well made tequila but I feel like the Oak overpowered a lot of the flavor and aroma.
One of my favorites! I love the blends. Reminds me of a nice cozy evening by the fire.
This is not another pretty bottle (actually the bottle is beautiful) but the real gem is this aged expression of 3,4,&5 yr blend. Outstanding nose, sweet cooked agave and barrel notes. Great finish. It is pricey though
Tasted at Sip Tequila Fest This extra anejo’s profile was exceptional. A real treat, definitely an indulgent sipper with barrel char, baking spice, nutmeg, vanilla, caramel, coffee, cocoa, dried raisins, dried cherries, even a hint of rancio with deep wood characteristics. Tasted this alongside ArteNom 1146, and as much as I loved the anejo, it simply couldn’t compete with the depth of this incredible extra anejo. The Fonseca family are masters at blending old stock. This Extra Anejo from the Tequileña distillery was my favorite aged expression from Sip Tequila Fest. Although the asking price is cost prohibitive, I knocked several points because of this, I would recommend trying a pour at a local bar on a special occasion.
