This was a pleasant surprise! I was not expecting this to shine so well. Aroma is wonderful with agave, citrus and floral— very delicate and nice. Taste is good with agave and pepper. The finish brings back some of those nice aromas and lasts long. I could put this into the rotation! Good stuff.
Lot 03 | I absolutely fell in love with the nose on this batch of Ensueño. I had the privilege of trying both batch 1 & 3 side by side and the nose on batch 3 was exceptional. Carrying on the agave forward notes found in batch 1, batch 3 had a substantial elevation of barrel influence. There is just so much complexity here. Batch 3’s aroma feels as though I’m nosing a Reposado, which I believe was aged 21 days in ex-Weller 12 barrels. I was told that batch 1 was only rested for 14 days, and the difference between the two is substantial. So much barrel spice was found on the nose in addition to slight citrus notes, brown sugars, red fruits, and floral notes. The palate was great as well, cooked agave, black pepper, citrus, barrel spice, floral notes, and subtle caramel/honey. The finish was long with a slightly bitter black pepper finish, that was not unsettling in the slightest. This blanco also had a lovely thickness on the palate, the chew was outstanding. I could nose this blanco all night long!
Lot 02 | Aroma: vegetal at first followed by a gravel minerality. Orange citrus, vanilla, and a soft oak aroma come in quickly after. It’s all rounded off by a bit of cinnamon at the end. Flavor: crème brûlée is what I think of when trying this batch. Tons of vanilla and caramelized sugar followed by minerality, orange citrus, cinnamon, and oak. The sweetness is very present but it doesn’t last long which makes you want to go back for more immediately. Finish: medium body and texture. Very approachable at 42%
Lot 01 | Master Distiller Sergio Cruz takes his talents to Hacienda El Olvido for Ensueño. Although the famed tequilero doesn’t stray far from his tried & true production methods, it’s hard to argue with the result. This blanco is an exceptional, expertly crafted, and well priced offering that I’m head over heels for. To start, sweet agave bursts out of the glass on the nose, with light cinnamon notes, followed by citrus, grass, and vanilla. The palate follows suit with sweet agave, cinnamon, vanilla, pepper, anise, and cracked pepper. The mouthfeel is mid range, and finish is lingering. This blanco was rested for two weeks in ex-Weller barrels & albeit subtle, one can taste the influence. All in all, this is a great showing from Sergio, and Hacienda El Olvido in turn.
Lot 02 | Nose- brininess and minerality up front. Followed closely by nice sweet cooked agave and floral- white flower Taste- nice silky mouthfeel with minerality, brine, agave, and citrus up front that flows into a slight vanilla and ends nicely with a nice white peppery finish This is very nice.
A very agave forward, briney, vegetal nose with a little bit of funk starts this one off. The finish is sweet, full of agave, buttery and maybe has a hint of pear and maybe a vague touch of double creme brie. This one stands out in a crowd, what a treat!
Lot 02 | Lot 2 Nose: The aromas are funky! (Not my preference but is a popular choice for many) White pepper, raw agave, salt, touch of oak and a slice orange peel Palate: Sweet agave, cinnamon, herbs, and salty minerals Finish: I get some heat above the top and below the bottom gum lines. Pleasant blanco but not my flavor preference.
Lot 02 | I am bumping this a point. The more I drink it the more I like it. Nose of cooked agave, flowers, earth, light smoke, dried fruits. Tastes of agave, lime, cinnamon, minerals, pepper, brine and citrus. There is also a light smoke which is pleasant. Finish has a bit of alcohol and drinks hotter than 42ABV but note it is not overpowering. This is a Sergio Cruise Tequila but it has a different DNA. All in all, I like it, I will buy more, and I recommend it.
Lot 01 | Nose: agave/ smoke / earth / banana/ lime / licorice/ tobacco / minerals/ Taste: sweet agave / vanilla/ cinnamon/ earth / minerals/ banana/ melon / orange peel / tea / anise / nutmeg/ chocolate/ molasses/ alcohol Finish: very watery mouthfeel / the sweet agave, fruit, and cinnamon disappear quickly leaving a light bittersweet flavor. This barrel rested blanco has some nose notes that are overwhelmed by the smoke/tobacco scents. The taste is good and there’s enough flavor notes to make the weak nose a non-issue. The bitterness at the end of the sip is tempered by a lasting sweetness and a light cinnamon flavor. I would like to know how good this could be if it wasn’t barrel rested and was high proof.
Tasting this to get the Musica taste out of my mouth. Totally natural sweetness, tons of agave on the nose and the palate. Interesting to see this new product come from what at one time was the classic NOM 1079, now 1580. A bump in ABV to 42% keeps this interesting all the way through the finish.
Lot 01 | Tasting for LOT #1 (November 2023). In the aroma, this tequila offers a delicate blend of subtle cooked agave, accompanied by notes of white pepper, a hint of citrus, and herbal undertones. The nose presents a harmonious balance of earthy and spicy elements, setting the stage for what's to come. Upon tasting, the flavor profile unfolds with a symphony of flavors that mirror the aroma. The cooked agave takes center stage, complemented by caramel sweetness and a kick of white pepper. Subtle hints of orange peel add a refreshing citrus brightness, while spearmint brings a cool, herbal twist. Layers of baking spice and mineral notes provide depth and complexity, leading to a briny undertone that adds dimension to the palate. The experience concludes with a lingering astringent finish, leaving a satisfying sensation that beckons for another sip. Overall, this tequila offers a medium complexity tasting journey due to its minimal aging period showcasing a well-balanced interplay of flavors and textures that will delight the senses of any enthusiast.
Lot 01 | Agave on the nose; celery/vegetal licorice on the palate; mid lingering finish.
Lot 01 | Beautiful nose, agave, minty thyme, citrus, herbaciousness-great on pallet too, creamy agave, pepper, anise, citrus, very well balanced, nice mouthfeel, long light spice finish, A on value, well done Sergio & co
Lot 01 | Bright vegetal nose. Citrus notes, orange and lime zest. Finish super clean, amazing lingering cooked agave across the pallet A high proof of this expression would be over the top.
Lot 01 | Harvested June 2023 Batch #1 42% ABV Slight prickle on initial nasal impact with sweet and bright citrus. Aroma leads with honeysuckle, fresh orange peel, lime, white pepper and brine. The deep well water shows up with some mineral peaking through. Buttery mouthfeel with sufficient+ alcohol (at 42% ABV). Palate checks plenty of boxes quickly: cooked agave, honeysuckle and orange peel highlighted with a briney note immediately dominate. Lime, white pepper, butter, celery , cinnamon and a slight hint of the oak barrel it rested in for 14 days. A long white pepper finish where honey, brine, citrus and some spearmint linger. I'm getting some limestone on the finish as well. I was fortunate to have tasted four other samples in Tlaquepaque with Oscar Vazquez Camarena in Sept '23 before he launched this final (and best) version. A really great blanco that is very unique compared to other blancos.
Lot 01 | A rested blanco that brings out a subtle barrel flavor with agave and sweetness. The finish was great and definitely one I would sit and sip all night with.
Lot 01 | Heavy brine on nose and a lot of vegetal on the palate with bitterness on the finish
Lot 01 | Cooked agave, a touch of sweetness, light white pepper, slight nuttiness most likely from being rested for 14 days in barrel
Lot 01 | Winner in my book. Tons of cooked agave in nose and taste. Not an overpower punch of heat. Well balanced
Lot 01 | Agave, citrus, mineralality, light spice, pepper and the barrel influence is light and pleasant. This is an easy drinker and super enjoyable.
Lot 01 | Green agave, floral, orange zest on the aroma. Tasting loads of sweet cooked agave, honey, lime, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla. It has slight color from the barrel aging. This is an easy drinker with balance and depth to appease different kinds of drinkers. Really nice!
Lot 01 | Aroma: raw agave, sweet cooked agave, butter, cream, vanilla bean, cinnamon, orange zest. Flavor: honey, butter cream, sweet cooked agave, oak, floral. Silky texture and very approachable. Little to no burn. Easy to sip on but could also make a nice cocktail
Lot 01 | Very impressed with this new brand. I’ve tasted it at various iterations and this is the best one. Definitely worth looking into.
Lot 01 | Tierra de Ensueño Blanco (Land of Dreams) - Sergio Cruz and Oscar Vazquez Camarena came together to develop and craft this unique Blanco tequila that’s made at NOM1580 - Hacienda El Olvido in Jesus Maria, Jalisco (Highlands). It’s rested in Rare Ex-Bourbon (possibly Weller 12) White Oak barrels for 14 days and it’s 84 proof - 42%ABV. - The nose is full of fresh agave and bright citrus rind that sits upon some earthy clay that’s packed with minerality. There’s a dry white oak barrel aroma that could also be interpreted as a dry hay aroma. Hints of white pepper dance about along with some celery and almond notes. The added proof is just enough to make this nose aromatic. This nose makes you want to take a sip. - There’s some nice density of flavors that are mildly complex. The agave is buttery and earthy. There’s some earthy notes of peppercorn and celery. The earthiness hits almost simultaneously as the sweet buttery cooked agave. It’s has a full mouthfeel. The spicy characteristics hits on the mid palate and linger into the medium finish. There’s some nice spice that’s most likely coming from the barrel because this blanco is rested in a used bourbon barrels for 14 days. There’s some agave sweetness but also some nice savory notes. The proof helps the finish to linger and the uniqueness begs for you to keep taking sip after sip. Enjoy responsibly.

Lot 02 | Such a good tequila. Minerality, citrus, nuts, lemongrass. Not sure LOT 2 is my absolute favorite, but the variation between lots is so fascinating and interesting. Do a side by side if you can. Definitely one of the best new tequila brands of the past 18 months.
