NOM 1579 | An agave burst on the nose with herbaceous notes to boot. The calling cards of El Pandillo are alive & well on the palate. Cooked agave, minerality, pepper, light citrus and some extra punch from the 86 proof. This is a fantastic blanco that takes advantage of its cousin G4 Madera’s signature wood fermentation technique. My only qualm with this outstanding blanco is the price point. At 90$, as much as I enjoy the juice, the value proposition just doesn’t make sense here.
NOM 1579 | Nose: agave / earth / mineral/ pepper /very faint citrus/ lime / Taste: mildly sweet agave / pepper/ earthy/ mineral/ hint of apple / orange peel / licorice/ lemongrass / peppermint/ salt Finish: very light viscous mouthfeel with a slight bitterness near the end that lingers with a strong pepper note. This blanco is a good choice for those that prefer a pepper profile over sweetness. The sweet is there, but the earth, mineral, and pepper tones nearly dominate. It has a weak nose, but as a blanco that can be expected sometimes. A decent sipper if you like the peppery profile tastes.
NOM 1579 | Vibrant nose - Agave heavy Extremely soft mid palate, no alcohol presence —vegetative, mineral forward, floral. Peppery. Wonderful finish, extremely agave forward throughout. Nice and clean. Minerality is strong, nice sweetness. Easy drinker.
NOM 1579 | A fantastic blanco coming out of 1579. This is a great sipper that I can’t get enough of. A great nose that carries over to the palate. Nose: tons of cooked agave, citrus, minerals, vegetal, herbal, black pepper and earth. Palate: cooked agave, citrus, minerals, vegetal, herbal, black pepper and earth. Absolutely love this blanco! This one doesn’t disappoint.
NOM 1579 | Going to miss this one out of out of 1579. Looking forward to what the new Primo brings. As for this one it is a nice representation of a good blanco. Nose has cooked agave, citrus and a light mineralality and earthy. Taste is very pleasant and very easy to drink. You get cooked agave, slight hints of mint, spice and floral notes.
NOM 1579 | Nose- Brine is very forward almost like a pickle slight alcohol, citrus/lime Palette- earthy, fresh cut grass, cooked agave cinnamon, white pepper Finish- cooked agave
NOM 1579 | I originally gave this an 86. I'm re-rating this one as my original score wasn't necessarily a fair shake. I had tried the spirit in a bar with improper glassware, shortly after I had been drinking another spirit and had some light food. Current: The fresh bottle pour was a bit musty, like asparagus on the back end of the nose. on the front of the nose, sweet cooked agave, salt, herbal notes, white pepper, and some minerality. I notice that as I let the pour open up, the must seems to dissipate and let the other aromas come through. It's very airy and light on the mouth feel. To the tongue, it's slightly oily but still feels almost as light as water. I get butter, pepper and anise creamy and herbaceous maybe some mint. To be honest, I think everything to write home about on this one comes from the finish. Herbs, Mint, Anise and Pepper all day.
NOM 1579 | It is very good, no wonder coming from El Pandillo. However, the value proposition vs. other offerings is hard given they produce such great tequilas. Will compare with the G4 madera to truly say if the price difference is worth it. The bottle is very nice though.
NOM 1579 | Strong agave notes and malolactic on the nose. Cooked agave, citrus and subtle cheese. Smooth short finish. Easy to sip.
NOM 1579 | One of the newcomers from 1579. I originally had this at the pool during the summer time and revisited it to see if I still felt the same way about it. Spoiler alert: I did. On the nose, cooled agave and pineapple dominate. Loads of citrus and a minerals, but that fruity pineapple note keeps coming in and out. There’s definitely a lot of other citrus noted but it shifts too fast for me to really pin it down. I want to say grapefruit, but then it’s lime. On the palate, this is full bodied and delicious agave. The 43% does this a lot of favors. That citrus comes through very distinctly, followed by a very mineral finish. Definitely some tropical fruit in there, and there’s something that just feels like like 1579, but I can’t really pinpoint exactly what it is. Overall a delicious tequila. Nice bottle, beautiful top to add to my collection, and very tasty. I’ve shared this with a few people and it’s been a hit. Definitely quality stuff and really par for the course for 1579. It’s different enough to be it’s own thing, but similar enough to know you’re getting the quality you’d expect from El Pandillo.
NOM 1579 | Agave and sweet citrus aroma, sweet agave on the mouth, medium-long black pepper finish. Very very very good Blanco!!
NOM 1579 | Aroma: Salt, brine, anis, fruity, wood, musk, citrus, all/spice, green apple, lemon, white pepper, rain water, herbal, cooked agave, nutmeg and little vanilla with light-cinnamon. Tahona stone mineral and brick clay. Nice coper cork top representing the family shield ? Palate: Mineral, spring water, silky texture, some heat, agave, wet earth, Peppermint, orange citric, Herbal. Finish: with the same aroma and palate flavors, some heat, you can taste the spring water, pepper, and citrus acidity . Bottle LPr0001B date: 12/20/21
NOM 1579 | Aroma starts with a lovely punch of cooked agave. Then I get some minerality, citrus and grass. Flavor of cooked agave, spiciness. The finish lingers for a great long time. An excellent sipper!
NOM 1579 | Delicious blanco, nice spice, agave forward, citrus, balanced flavor to alcohol. Another winner from 1579
NOM 1579 | A - At first, I picked up the scent of cooked agave, bell pepper, and buttered popcorn. Later, earthy scents of limestone minerality, olive, yeast, later giving way to stone fruits, vanilla, dill, anise on the nose. The aroma had me excited to dive into taste. T – Cooked agave and mint was ever present; notes of citrus (mostly lime for me), vanilla, basil, alcohol, white pepper, licorice, and almond took turns on the dance floor. I enjoyed the flavor. F – The finish is fine, doubling-down on the musty, earthy minerality. There is black licorice and baking soda at the end. Overall – This is a quality, well-made tequila that I would recommend.
NOM 1579 | From a blind tasting of various blanco tequilas. Aroma: Citrus forward, fresh squeezed lime, and a pleasant minerality. Lightly vegetal, mainly celery, as well as light agave. Taste: Lightly sweet, with vegetal notes and a slight but not unpleasant bitter flavor, light mouthfeel that coats the tongue. Finish: Citrus and cooked agave with notes of black pepper, flavor coats and lingers.
NOM 1579 | Blind tasting- N- citrus, white pepper, vegetal agave T- cooked agave, lemon/lime citrus, jalapeno, pineapple MF- oily F- long and spicy
NOM 1579 | From blind tasting: I’m getting old school production notes most likely made with agaves from the Valles. Very complex! Aroma: Wet cement, earthy, minerals, olive and smoke Taste: Peppery, smoke, vegetal and earthy
NOM 1579 | Went through most of the bottle before I tested this one. Really well made with good flavors but something is off for me. Compared it to Fortaleza Blanco and it's mostly favorable but I'm picking up a little more bitterness in the primo. Maybe just this bottle is off. I'll try it again later and see if I have the same opinion.
NOM 1579 | Bright agave nose, very clean. signature 1579 flavor
NOM 1579 | This is why I love tequila from the beginning the smell and the taste of the Agave. Is in perfect balance. love this Blanco.
NOM 1579 | One of my favorite noses. Sweet agave for days + black pepper. Tastes of Cooked agave and a ton of black pepper, riding on top of a little citrus kick. A little heat from the 43% numbs the throat a bit. Looooong finish, if a tad one-dimensional. Wonderful blanco!
NOM 1579 | primo 1861 tasted July 9 2022 NOM 1579 Lote LPr0001B Dec 22 2021 NOTES: NOSE: Grass earth agave apples cinnamon TASTE: agave funk/cheese pepper cinnamon fruit FINISH: a little heat on end, subtle finish I ranked this #1 of all the 1579 blanco expressions I tried tonight (only one I didn't taste was Don Vicente)
NOM 1579 | Blind: Aroma: very vegetal with citrus and even red fruits. Grass, bamboo shoots, orange, pineapple, hints of plum which is delicious Flavor: also delicious. Still vegetal, minerality of stones comes through. Smoky Mouth feel / finish: leaves a pleasant warmth in the chest. Oily mouthfeel I think this is cascahuin tahona blanco…
The 12 finalists are tequilas that offer vibrant and varied aromas and flavors with good texture and a pleasing aftertaste.
