march 9, 2023 i decided to rate a clase azul product for my 200th review because clase azul was my gateway tequila back in 2006... Clase azul gold we've had this in our bar for several yrs. just now rating. Nose a lot of alcohol coffee a little oak some caramel Palate vanilla pepper agave tiny bit of heat but not much of a finish Overall, not as horrible as I expected but also not great. Rating would be low 70s but points off for cost/low value
Very sweet notes and barely any complexity. No harshness and minimal alcohol. Product to initiate someone into sweet profiles
Nose - Agave, light alcohol, sweet under tones Taste - Butter, caramel, pepper, cooked agave a bit of added sweetness (to be expected from Clase Azul) Finish- long legs, buttery, lingering cooked agave with a slight peppery finish. Super easy supper for sure, the Bottle is a piece of art per usual.
Sweet, engineered tequila, blanco and Anejo blend. Definite color and add sweetener. Special bottle for sure with a marriage of glass and ceramic. Got this bottle for under $300. Now see it on Old Town for $1100. Collectors item for sure
Nose vanilla alcohol a bit of coffee Taste light oak alcohol pepper trace agave not much Finish disappointing pepper alcohol and an artificial vanilla Leaves a poor aftertaste Most beautiful bottle ever probably
Aroma is oak and honey Flavor is caramel and nutty Finish is sweet and then a little burn. I tried this at a bar in a Glencairn Glass neat. A pour cost me $35 but I would not buy this bottle for $300.
Smooth as silk. Heavy spice and vanilla. butter smooth finish.
Light caramel & apple aroma. Slight reminiscence to Adictivo XA just lighter flavours and stronger bite
Sweet additive tequila. I love the bottle.
Smokey on the nose, light mouthfeel with smooth finish Honey and agave sweetness on the palate, less cherry and vanilla notes than the repo, more similar to a 1942
Additives galore. Nose is faint agave with over powering vanilla. Lots of sweetness and vanilla in the taste. Not as sweet as their blanco. Knowing its all additives is a turn off. Extremely overpriced. The bottle looks great on my bar though.
Bright straw-colored body. Cooked agave, almond and orange peel on the nose. Wooden on the palate, good presence of agave and a strong alcoholic note. The best of the Clase Azul lineup, still overpriced, though.
very smooth yet flavorful tequila that breathes like it will be harsh at first and then finishes so smooth that all you have left are hints of vanilla and caramel.. amazing experience..
Some spice, slightly sweet, caramel
Sweet, smooth
Such an interesting sipping tequila. You can definitely taste all three tequilas in each glass. The finish is incredibly smooth. I wish the mix was a little stronger to the anejo. The plata does over power just a bit but I also think that’s what keeps it interesting. The oak is not very strong. I think the sherry barrel finish really comes out and a big of vanilla spice right off the bat. I love this tequila. You pay for a beautiful bottle but it really is enjoyable to drink.
C’est très bon. Très douce et très très chère.
The blend of all the three tequilas creates an interesting taste. You can definitely taste all three. I do feel that the plata taste can overpower the taste at first. But then the sweetness of the repsosado and extra anejo balance it out at the end. Let your glass sit for about 15 min for best taste, and the second glass will be better then the first.
Also not good. More barrel from the 8 year blended in, but still an adulterated product. Especially not worth anywhere near MSRP ($300)
cherry vanilla cinnamon
Vanilla and caramel on the nose with oak and pepper . To sweet for my liking, but it blends well with the aged oak . Smooth finish. Probably a good sipper on ice. But that’s about it. Lost points on value , at that price point, there are so many better tequilas. You are paying for a cool bottle.
Smells like buttered sweet corn. Taste, slightly sweet with a heavy black pepper finish.

So this is my first taste of any Clase Azul in over 40 years of drinking tequila. I really had no desire to try it although I always admired the bottle. This Joven has a very nice bottle. Lately I have been tasting through what I consider mass market high dollar brands that most of the tequila community think is the holy grail. My expectations were not too high for this tequila as it is often referred to as pancake syrup in the tequila circles I hang out in. On the nose, this tequila is inviting. I get vanilla and caramel a bit of oak and agave. Yes, it smells sweet but not overly so. On the palate, the notes are vanilla then agave. I also get oak and caramel. A touch of pepper and butter. The finish has a little alcohol but then the negative kicks in as the lingering taste is artificial sweetener. Would I drink this again, well I have had two pours of it so far. There is no way I’d spend the 300 plus on this tequila so the value really hurts the score. But, if offered, I’d take another pour. I can see why high rollers could be happy drinking this as it looks exciting and it isn’t hard to drink. Is it overly sweet, on this Joven, not until the finish. So far, it has been my favorite of the big brand elite tequilas. I will never buy this but I also would not trash it. I think DJ 1942 will be my next to try in this category. I used to think that was the king before I discovered AF traditionally made tequila. It will be interesting to see what I think about it now.
