Wow! This was absolutely off the hook. Minerality, Pepper, Floral, and Citrus notes perfectly balanced with earthy notes. One thing about my palate is that if the earthy notes are too prevalent, for me it dominates the palate. This seemed to have the PERFECT amount of earthy notes.

I for one was SHOCKED! I scored this sample the highest of any samples and once learning what it was and how it’s made, we may be in for “Blanco of the Year” once it lands stateside in 2025! This was my score from the HP/SS blind panel tasting. Crazy points given out, mostly value! We have a Brick Oven Cooked, Tahona Crushed, 92 proof, $65 AGAVE nuke! Dare I say Fortaleza SS has a rival right now?! I will resample/score once I track down a bottle of this, however here’s how it did in the blind!

Smoke, roast agave, a bit of ethanol and some anise on the nose. Mellow entry with natural sweetness and an intensity of flavor that builds to a nice full mouth involved finish. Outstanding of the 10 provided samples. rated #1 of all 20 samples both HP and SS

Blind: Lemony on the nose, but more herbal flavor. Short finish for a high proof but tears are kinda heavy.

Tasted in a CT HP glass. Part of the HP/SS super blind. Nose of agave and berries. Spring flowers. Apple and pears. It is minty. On the palate, this is delicious. Very agave forward and a minty. The ABV works so well with this one.

• Visual: Clear w/ clear medium edge. Takes crazy long time for legs to appear • Initial Nasal Impact: Prickle • Aroma: Honey, jalapeno, cinnamon raisin bread (untoasted), floral, herbal, earth • Mouthfeel: Buttery w/ heavy alcohol • Flavor: Honey on a hot pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, earth, light lemon • Finish: Long, continues to coat tongue. Honey, cinnamon and vanilla carry through

Very different nose - attribute to the unusual stills.

I’m happy that I bought this tequila. Trujillo is new to me. So it’s got a kick to it. Vegetal on both the nose and taste. The flavor that comes after the cooked agave is best described as olive brine to me. Very nice. Slow burn. High quality. Dangerous :)

Great two ingredient tequila. I only drink tequila using Tahona extraction. It is very similar to the high proof forteleza but more available at a reasonable price.

Nose: cooked agave, black pepper, mint, minerality, petrichor. Wonderfully full mouthfeel tastes of dweet agave, anise, mint, incredibly smooth, earthy with a subtle pepperiness Finishes with more sweet agave and notes of espresso beans and a bit more of that subtle spice. This drinks so easy, the palate and finish were much more (naturally) sweet than the nose gave off to me. Delicious and and amazing value
