300th review so figured I would do something special. The nose is like the best Cascahuin Tahona batch you’ve ever had. Ripe agave at its fullest with the characteristic cascahuin smell. However, the taste and finish fall a bit short and do not have the complexity this price point warrants. You’re better off buying other products from this distillery honestly.

NOM 1123 | LOTE167, bottled on 141221, tasted on 3-23-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, hint of anise, hint of green vegetal note, hint of earthiness, after 1 hour in the glass I figured out that the aroma hasn’t changed much… other than a hint of pungent sweet agave fiber aroma emerges. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, it is quite smooth, ethanol sensation feels lower than its 40% abv., light acidity. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave with light acidity and hint of green vegetal notes persist.

NOM 1123 | Only had a small sample while at the distillery, and that was immediately after sampling a high proof blanco with a more traditional Cascahuin profile. I found it really easy to sip with a pleasant sweet and somewhat minty taste initially that fades with a slight peppery short finish. I understand the double jima shaving, but still question the high price on this bottle.
