NOM 1605 | Aroma: First pass before swirling: Citrus rind, light white pepper, grilled pineapple and some grassy herbal notes. Second pass, after a chance to breathe, light mineral notes emerged, agave and lemon. Flavor: Some weight to the body. Agave? with brown sugar undertones. A hot pepper note, a trace of licorice and slight bitterness. There is an undercurrent of something in the aftertaste that I can’t quite pin down. Not natural. Finish: Medium heat, sweet, licorice and fruity. Previous to tasting this, I did not know that a blanco (or an unaged tequila) could qualify as a cristalino. But there is a CRT Circular, dated 17 de noviembre 2016, that addresses “Tequilas Madurados Cristalinos.”

NOM 1605 | Not sure why this needs to exist, it is no bueno for me. Tasted at El Buho.

NOM 1605 | Odd nose… smells like a citrus forward gin with out the juniper. There’s some minerality and a touch of cinnamon on the nose too, but no agave. A super citrusy palate with vague agave undertones. It looks like it’s from the old NOM, will need to try from the newer one.

NOM 1605 | Was the first tequila I bought from Mexico before being educated. Smells so sweet, I could not smell agave, drinking it down was awful and I almost spit it up. Disappointed but glad I know what real tequila tastes like now.

NOM 1605 | Had in Guanajuato. I'm probably to nice on this one Some licorice/anise and a bit of heat and aftertaste.

NOM 1605 | It is an innovation in Tequila, it contains the strength of a silver tequila but it leaves you with the sensation of cooked agave and leaves you the desire to repeat another drink.

NOM 1605 | Tasting this reminded me of putting a 9 volt battery on my tongue to see if it still works. I can’t understand how anyone would launch a liquid this bad.
