NOM 1443 | This tequila is a little disappointing considering how much I’ve enjoyed the rest of the lineup. All the obvious oak tasting notes are here in some degree but no discernible agave and the finish is not entirely pleasant.

Some 100 proof agave goodness. NOM 1443

Aroma: Incredibly sweet. Strong notes of caramel and vanilla with a hint of pepper, mint and agave. There also might be a slight note of almond. Flavor: It's very sweet upfront and slightly sweet on the finish. In between though it takes on a very medicinal and bitter flavor. I really wanted to love this based on the aroma but the flavor is lacking. *Blind Tasting*

This is a wonderfully aged tequila that smells fantastic, tastes rich and thick, and has a long and pleasing finish that you don't want to ever go away. At 100 proof, it packs a punch, but does so with style and class.

NOM 1443 | Aroma is very full. Packed with agave, caramel, vanilla, and oak: Taste is caramel, oak, barrel spice, agave, it’s not peppery, it’s very subtle- super enjoyable for the price. Finish is quicker than I hoped- light agave, alcohol, and hints of vanilla.

NOM 1443 | Not my favorite smell, but the taste is not too bad compared to the smell. A lingering finish that’s a tad astringent.

Not a great nose, but very nice flavor. Little to no alcohol burn.

Great nose but on the sweeter side: like a banana nut muffin. There is some mint, ripe banana and hazelnut or some other nut on the nose. Prominent woody taste and again sweet; caramel, vanilla, orange (peel), cinnamon. Finish could be smoother for being aged but sippable for me. Good price for an Anejo. NOM 1443

NOM 1443 | Strong alcohol smell. Has a “hose water” flavor to it.

NOM 1443 | Nose: Toast, vanilla, raw agave and baking spices. Palate: barrel char smoke, same toast, vanilla and baking spices but less raw agave and more cooked agave. Finish is long and smoky, almost reminiscent of a single malt from the highlands.

NOM 1443 | Oak on the nose, there is some agave on the taste, not totally overshadowed by the oak thing…

NOM 1443 | 100 proof is too strong to drink on its own. Try with and ice cube

Eye: light gold with slow fat legs. Nose: Meaty with oak up front. Vanilla and wet earth then some cooked agave. Fresh spearmint and green peppers follow after it's had a chance to breathe. Palate: Comes on hot. Full body. Sweet bourbon. Vanilla and caramel are most prominent. Some cooked agave and red grapes. Light ethanol. Finish: Warm with black pepper. The cooked agave is most apparent here with some minerality. Long. Conclusion: A loud añejo with some very pronounced flavors. A solid tequila and great introduction for those coming from Bourbon.

Tequila Tuesdays at Hooters in Sacramento? Yes it’s real! 5$ shots of Dulce Vida Anejo. I’ve had the blanco and was almost choked out by it. The Anejo however is quite good, and 5$ shots makes it all the better. I had written off Dulce Vida but now it’s back on my radar. It has almost no aroma but the severe burn of the blanco is also gone. Flavor is light, very light but hints of agave and oak are noticeable. Short finish but did I mention it was 5$! Thanks Joey for talking me into it.

Dulce Vida is 100-proof tequila done right

Sometimes 40% alcohol (80-proof) just isn’t enough. I say this not because of any need to hurry up and get a fast buzz on, but rather that a quality tequila made at 100 proof (50% alcohol) can be more true to the real nature of tequila than one that is at

Dulce Vida is a unique, 'muy fuerte' 100 proof organic blue agave tequila

There are two words that immediately come to mind when tasting the lineup of Dulce Vida tequilas: fuerte (strong) and unique.
