This is a typical example of a NOM 1438 brand. All unnaturally sweet, cloying, fake fruit, vanilla cake batter. Pepper is present on the finish on all expressions with this line. They get sweeter as you move from Blanco, Repo to Anejo. At the point of tasting this, NOM 1438 has 185 brands. What sets them all apart? The Name and bottle design. If you like sweet, these will satisfy you. For those looking for traditional, well made tequila this is a hard pass

Purchased because of the bottle design, and was pleasantly surprised by the nuanced flavors and long finish. A little smoky, light and dark caramel, roasted agave, has a nice balance of smoothness and acidity.

Aroma is nice…vanilla, agave, carmel, with pepper and the taste is silky, agave with vanilla and Carmel with a peppery finish. The aroma and taste is even better a week later. Agave pops now…anise- pepper- oak spice- Carmel- it’s really delicious.

Clearly additives but nice taste and I wouldn't pass it up if offered. just costs too much unless you want the bottle.

My second bottle. Eas just learning about tequila when I got the 1st one. Opening nose is Vanilla, Cream Soda and Agave. 1st taste is Vanilla, Agave, Caramel. Some alcohol burn but just enough to notice and not linger. Plenty of sugars for a reposado. I'm sure it has additives but not over done like some of the Celebrity tequilas. I'll buy this anytime I can get it. It's from the same distillery as Cincoro and Los Azulejos. Similar profile.

Smooth clean finish with cinnamon and vanilla notes. I would compare to Clase Azul but for less than half the price. Great tequila and a beautiful ceramic bottle.

Sweet tequila made from late harvest agave and intentionally high BRIX. Not my favorite sipping tequila, as it really is too sweet for me.

Incredible flavors of vanilla and butterscotch. Light agave and black pepper flavors. Finishes nicely and then disappears. I’ll drink this again.

Nose: Vanilla, warm buttery oak Taste: easy intro, nicely sweet, some black pepper, not a lot of agave though Finish: short, not a lot of depth, slightly bitter Overall: nice, well-rounded expression of a repo

Quixote on her own... I have enjoyed my Maesrtra tasting so much that, when I sat down at 6, I was on my own on a street-facing patio and fifteen minutes after starting my tasting and chatting up my waiter and the patio is full ! Too bad they appear to be all margarita drinkers. Anyway, this reposado is one I'd like to have on my collection. It is suitably mixed I and peppery to taste but has an excellent burnt caramel finish ending with a mild tequila kick. I'd like to try as part of a horizontal tasting.

Review #272 - Casa Maestri Tequila Reposado

NOM 1438 has made a lot of really good budget tequilas. Los Azulejos and Casa Maestri are the premium lines from the distillery...let's see if Casa Maestri is worth the premium price
