Much more alcohol notes than most extra anejos where there are more Carmel and vanilla notes.

Great product, slightly taste variation year to year but always a joy

A reliable go to when you want a balanced, aged tequila. I have always been a fan of the barrel influence and easy butterscotch flavours going on.

This almost like drinking a bourbon. Hardly any agave notes. I’m sure that that was the intention of Cuervo. This rating is for The Rolling Stones edition. The finish is actually decent.

Aroma has a nice mix of cooked agave and barrel. The colour perfectly matches the flavour. Definitely a whiskey drinkers tequila. The cooked agave comes through a bit on the flavour but has an overpowering whiskey barrel finish. The finish has a nice delayed peppery burn. Much more boozy then most extra Anejo’s.

Lots of whiskey and barrel, a slight medicinal character on the back end but it blends with the barrel finish.

Old world goodness of pepper and agave, you can tell this was NOT rushed to be made... (aroma) Floral is initially intense, but steps aside to carmel sweetness, with just a touch of white pepper disappearing to a sweet agave finish.

I’m reviewing the Reserva de Familia that I was served straight from the barrel at the distillery in Tequila Mexico. This was unfiltered and not proofed down. The nose is full of oak vanilla and brown sugar. I taste cooked agave and strong oak. That taste is sweet and smooth with medium finish. It has a light mouth feel. The price for the bottle in the USA hurt this score several points. I can purchase DJ 1942 for $30 less that the JC RdF XA. I’ll update this review once I open and sample the bottle I purchased. ———————— Update: The color is that of an American Bourbon. It has a nice dark copper color. On the nose I detect a sweet vanilla / caramel, almost smells like a Coca-Cola Tequila. There is floral, almost perfume note. The taste is oak forward, dark fruit notes and sweet cooked agave. The finish is a rich dark agave, slightly sweet. Overall this is a good XA but it is priced approximately $20 -$30 too high, in my opinion. It’s worth purchasing once to see if you like it. Salud!

2014: Oak dominates. New oak, woody oak nose as well as a charred oak presence. Some fruit notes and vanilla. Flavor: Whisky oak, spiciness and white pepper on the palate. Hints of creme soda. Some butterscotch. Finish is a little rough... Wood and oak and amargo finish.

This is the best tasting and smoothest sipping tequila I’ve ever had.

Hints of spice, vanilla tones. Same sentiment on the front of the tongue, lingering toffee & butterscotch on the palette. I can recall in the last five years a retail at $99.00, at current retail of $125.00+, value has gone from great to good.

JC's best, none of the rest of their production measures-up nor compares to this one, not by production processes, nor by aroma and taste. There are many other brands/tequilas, as good or better for substantially less price point. And for this price point, I've found many others that I would much prefer to purchase, share and/or sip and enjoy.
