I don’t know why I hadn’t reviewed this but given I just had a couple of Lot 04 new bottle I’ll give it a go. It has a great agave taste with some minerality that guves it complexity but nothing to extreme. I think this is a good representation of La Alteña but would rather drink some ranchos of Ocho or Tapatio 110.

Balanced from start to finish, lots of agave on the nose and palate. Is up there with other of my favorites .

Nose is agave with lime and citrus, hints of wet grass and mint. Clean flavor profile that touches some citrus followed by cooked agave and very light pepper. Light heat that fades comfortably.

Wow, this expression sure didn’t disappoint. This is bold. It’s like someone smashed me in the face with an agave fruit cake. Nutty, cherry, citrus-y gingerbread on the nose. Naturally sweet on the palate. Definitely agave forward, as it should be. With the right amount of peppermint, herbs and minerals to round out this gem.

10/08/2018 edit. Olive oil bottle. Nose: Agave smacks you in the face. Mango, citrus, anise, minerals and vanilla-ginger-spicy goodness. A hint of lactic. A floral presence. Flavor: Oily agave flavor with hints of snickerdoodle cookie dough and rounded fruit notes. Perfect dose of pepper for balance.

An earthy agave aroma with hints of floral, citrus and pepper. The green agave flavor gives way to a subtle pepper and butter finish. Very smooth. Pleasant but unremarkable.

slightly aggressive, but not overwhelming. pepper, spices, agave notes and a little butter hit the nose. more aggressive on the pallet than on the nose. grapefruit, oregano and white pepper are strong and continue on a late finish. good but a little rude on the new tongue. I'd sip again.

This is definitely my kind of tequila I compare it to Fortaleza Blanco it hits all of the same notes in both the nose and the tongue.

Lote B-1031. Tasted at Casa Rick y Candy on13/09/2018. Classic ET blanco profile. Agave, minerals, natural sweetness and a hint of mint with a nice fading finish.

Personally this fits my profile. Not a tremendous value but well done, nice spice, loooong finish. Wish I could pick up more sweet agave on the nose.

Rated blind in Riedel Overture Glass: Crystal clear. Thin legs appear quickly. Small slow tears form as the coating sheets away. A lot of small pearls are left hanging on the glass. Aroma: Herbal and vegetal agave presents in the form of bell pepper, apple, celery, dill, mint, grapefruit and lime with white pepper and light notes of baked starches like sweet potato. Fresh with a nice complexity. The herbal notes might be a little sharp. Entry: Thin, wet, fairly smooth. Flavor: It has a mild sweetness to it from the baked agave starches that brings to mind apple, bell pepper, melon and pear. This is accented with grapefruit and lime. However, black pepper quickly takes center stage, providing just a touch of heat as it goes down. Finish: As the flavor transitions to black pepper, its sensations light up the moist palate for a finish of short-to-medium length. Conclusion: The mild flavors and sweetness coupled with a thin body could make you accidentally drink an entire bottle. The pepper sensation is the primary experience here, and while very enjoyable, it isn’t long. Its mild character could also allow this to be mixed in any number of ways.

Bottled in 2007. Couldn’t believe it was still on a retail shelf for $40. Mature agave dominates the palate. A true “treasure” if you will

A slight vanilla note that has no business being in a blanco, but I’m all in. If you find one, buy it.

This is the Mexican version, same squared bottle but is a blanco. LOTE TB-031 bottled on 05/10/2017, it has a blue round sticker stating: Destilería La Alteña 80 Aniversario. Aroma: initially not very expressive, maybe because it feels very thick, oily & earthy, after 30 minute in the glass: sweet cooked agave, resinous sweetness! Floral notes, earthy, slightly citrus, very fresh, slight acidity, very good balance between aromas. Palate: sweet cooked agave, stone fruit sweetness, floral notes through my retronasal, earthy, good sweet sour & citrus balance, thick and oily. At the end a very light soapy aroma emerges, maybe these are floral notes that I can’t describe. Finish is medium to long, balanced sweet sour and citrus notes with cooked agave notes persist.

Review #313 - El Tesoro Tequila Blanco - White Label (Robert Denton Import)

As with the newer bottles of El Tesoro, you can tell that they take their time making this one. The slow fermentation process keeps the vegetal notes nicely, but also balances them with the agave.
