NOM 1456 | Aromas of melon, vanilla and cake batter. Same spicy finish as blanco. Thin and hot tasting

NOM 1456 | Not good, not bad, just exists. I don’t get any distinguishable agave on the nose or tongue so what’s the point?! Weak finish.

NOM 1456 | Mexican release. Label says NOM# 1456. However, more likely from #1596. Nose: First impression is a medicinal note, or bandaids. It improves some with a little time, bringing forth vanilla, mild baking spices and some earthiness. Flavor: Little to zero agave. Funky sweet/ bitter note that I found in the blanco. These bottles say NOM 1456, but taste suspiciously like they are from NOM 1596, home to a diffuser. Finishes with generally off putting flavors, and saccharine.

NOM 1456 | Straight progression from the blanco but softens the more aggressive elements of that expression. Agave and barrel spice with notes of oak and some alcohol.

NOM 1456 | Agave, pepper and a hint of vanilla. This one has a bit of a bite with a modest finish. The low price makes it tempting for mixer.

NOM 1456 | Very nice as a mixer, good value.

NOM 1456 | Aroma: Caramel, antiseptic, and slight smoke. Flavor: smooth and mellow. Finish: initially smooth, then slight astringent on the low sides of the tongue, a nice tingle in the front of the mouth and upper rear/mid sides of the tongue, a small burn low in the throat. Priced low. Put it in your margaritas.

NOM 1596 | Aroma is vanilla and alcohol Flavor is vanilla alcohol and a little agave. Finish is good, I’m guessing the vanilla an additive but it doesn’t leave a bad aftertaste like some others. Mild burn I would mix with it but wouldn’t sip it unless it was being served by someone else. (Who I didn’t want to offend)

NOM 1596 | Caramel with hints of agave on the nose. Thin mouthfeel, but it gives way to a strong butterscotch flavor. Mild burn on the finish, but some of the sweetness still manages to pop through. It’s sort of like Casamigos, but the sweetness is more subtle. I’m definitely picking up on some additives though, but it’s certainly not bad for what it is.

NOM 1596 | Lots of alcohol on the nose so no real aroma to note. Taste of sweet agave then a bitter aftertaste. Finish a not smooth but warm.

NOM 1596 | Wow- this one surprised me based on the price. Aroma is nice- agave- caramel- cinnamon- vanilla—- taste…it’s good- wow…. Agave- caramel- oaky maple- slight alcohol that’s minimized with peppery notes and a smooth finish…. This one is really nice. Wife likes it a lot neat and she never drinks neat.

Alcohol and vanilla at every stage. A little bit of agave in the flavor and a touch of burn on the finish. You can do better on low end products(example Libre silver)

NOM 1596 | Has a lot of alcohol smell and taste but is not overbearing. Is this a tequila you will want to sip on, no. It is going to be great for cocktails.

Pleasant aromas of pear, agave and hint of vanilla are deceptively promising of taste expectations. Nice agave flavour and decent mouth feel but heavy alcohol start to finish. Decent as a mixer nonetheless. NOM 1596

NOM 1596 | Aroma has a hint of vanilla with slight alcohol fumes. Relatively smooth flavor but nothing memorable, and lacks refinement. Aftertaste lingers a bit. Comparable to Cazadores. Lower quality Rep that’s drinkable, but not enjoyable.

Review #188 - Familia Camarena Tequila Reposado

A pretty good value brand that can be easily found. All good things. Let's see if the tequila is tops for the under $20 category because there's getting to be lots of competition in that area of the tequila shelf...and that's a good thing.
