I can see how it’s pleasant with notes of grapefruit rind and a hint of sugar but I also get a distinct nose of pickled jalapeño that throws the balance off The taste is beautifully balanced, the palate is strong in molasses, cocoa and caramel with bright citrus and fruit notes, all the good of a tootsi roll and none of the bad. Missing some of the pepper and lime stone notes I like from a Los Valles. Finish is fruity with cocoa but very short with a slight linger on the sides of the tongue. I don’t know if it’s additive free, it tastes ever slightly altered but that may come from the extra length in oak.
