NOM 1616 | There’s some nice and funky here, as they aren’t afraid to let the agave aromas and flavors shine through. Quite enjoyable.

NOM 1500 | I wanted to like this more. A sample was brought down to Mexico for me by a good friend. But it was just ho hum on all counts.

1500 Tastings June 26 2022 NOM 1500 CÓDIGO EXPRESSIONS BLANCO Lote L041BCO40 NOSE Light/subtle aroma. Agave fruit pepper anise tiny bit of mint TASTE Subtle flavors may be due to the age and length of time the bottle has been open vanilla agave pepper and a little brine FINISH Fairly thin and subtle finish OTHER We got these Códigos when they first introduced em. I wanna say 2016/17?!? Bottles have been open for awhile with about 1/4 left in each so may have affected the aroma and taste ??? I'm unsure of the production methods of these NOM 1500 codigo expressions. TMM lists the new NOM 1616 production methods. I have read that the anejo was aged 18 mos in French oak cab barrels? OVERALL, I can see how people would enjoy these Código 1500 tequilas. Easy sippers. Just a little pricey for what it is

NOM 1616 | Alcohol, mint, pepper, agave, funk and bitterness greet you. It mellows as you go, but not the best start.

On the nose, I’m immediately by ethanol and something like acetone. Very vodka like. It mellows out and becomes decent as it opens up, with some notes of hay, and cut grass. The initial tasting is…not great. Lots of ethanol bitterness, but again, as it opens up, I get the agave, some cinnamon and spices. The ethanol never really disappears, but it sticks around with the other flavors. A little bit of citrus and vegetal notes. Overall I’m not really a fan, there’s much better blancos at this price range, I can’t say I’d buy a full sized bottle. Definitely glad they did the minis though. I have a mini of the blanco Rosa, we’ll see if a bit of wine barrel aging adds some complexity and mellows out those funky notes.

Sampled neat, from a rocks glass, unfortunately, at a restaurant/bar. Perhaps it's my nose and/or the glass, but the aroma is mostly alcohol. The palate is much more agave forward than the nose and it has a nice oiliness. Some earthy and vegetal notes, as well. I would try again in proper glassware to reassess the aroma. The price is probably fair, but it's not very complex, so I would recommend to others, but I might not ever buy a bottle myself.

NOM 1500 | Aroma: Light citrus and vegetal agave. Flavor: Nice velvety citrus flavor. Finish: Similar to aroma, smooth with a slight bite. Lingering finish, with some slight black pepper. Overall: A very nice blanco. Held its own when compared blind against Siete Leguas, Don Fulano, and Tequila Ocho blancos, placed in third.

NOM 1500 | smell reminds me a lot of el tesoro, however very short after taste. Lots of agave & herbal notes, however the price point hurts this tequila.

NOM 1500 | Short finish. Bitter with a bit of the raw agave taste. Would not mind sipping this, tastes natural.

NOM 1500 | Starts off with a bang, smells like roasted agave and makes my mouth water! Front palette is lovely but unfortunate it transitions to the sweet side and kind of loses me at the end. Just to be clear, I like this juice.

NOM 1500 | Sweet and vegetal on the nose. Mild, easy and medium bodied. I get cooked agave, some dill and finishes with a a faint hint of pepper. Finish is quick, but there is a nice heat that lingers on the back of the throat.

NOM 1500 | This one caught my attention as I walked into a local spirits store where all patrons were bragging about it. First thing that strike me was the pink color and I wondered if it is the bottle or the juice. It is the juice. The sample was $5.99, kind of pricy but let’s try it. Opened the sample and had it neat in a sniffer, and the aroma is there but not enough to say wow!. Aroma is full of agave, lime, Lemon, mint and pepper mix with anise and coconut, vanilla and floral scents. The flavor is mild with agave, mint, lime, black pepper, and earth. The finish is short with sweetness, mint and hints of pepper. I think this appeals more to newbies and who likes a sweet and mellow drink. Priced at $52 in store ?, there are better options at that price !

NOM 1500 | Don’t love the nose. Comes off kind of hot without a whole ton of complexity. Taste is a pop of agave and then WHO WANTS SOME PEPPER!? Wow, so much pepper. Pretty good, but finish is abrupt and somewhat flat. Maybe good for mixing ? Not a top choice for sipping. For 32$ I think it’s a good value bottle

NOM 1500 | Some acrid notes on the nose along with agave and alcohol. Quite spicy in the mouth with some viscosity. The acrid note becomes some slight bitterness in the mouth. Buzzy finish on the tongue. Interesting to taste but not a regular sipper for me.

NOM 1500 | Nice vegetal aroma with pepper, agave and mint. Nice peppery spice with strong agave and notes of cinnamon and mint. Also, a very definite presence of anise that builds into the finish. For all the bold aromas and flavors, this feels a little thin. The warm finish is medium-long. 12/30/2016 - 4th Annual Xmas XA tasting.

NOM 1500 | Aroma: Hints of agave, pepper, and mint. But, I also get a briny/sour note that overpowers everything else. Flavor: Very floral and strong anise notes. Also tons of raw agave. Feels very much like a traditional Mexican Blanco. Finish: This tequila is fairly thin and thus the finish isn't fantastic. There are some nice flavor notes that settle in the finish but nothing overwhelmingly great.

NOM 1500 | Minty aroma and flavor. A little thin in the mouth, but tastes natural. Too simple for the $48 price.

NOM 1500 | Surprised by this one because I expected it to be, well, a typical celebrity tequila. This one does not bowl me over with additives and sweeteners like many of the others. It's just a little too expensive for what it is.

Not much interesting going on here. I got 1L for $25 at Costco and figured it might be worth it as an additive free mixer. The problem is it just isn't flavorful enough. It isn't that the flavor is bad, it's just subtle. I made a paloma and could not even taste the tequila. I hope it will be better in a margarita. Light can be good though. Not sure if I'll change my mind for sipping but for now I'd rather have something else.
