NOM 1584 | NOM 1584 Primary aroma note is cinnamon/baking spice but with a distinct undertone of rubber. Maybe a hint of cooked agave but faint at best. Black pepper spice opens the flavor with next to nothing else. Fairly thin and one note. Very short finish. 12/17/2023

NOM 1584 | Aroma: Metallic. Skunk funk. Cinnamon. Slightly lactic. Flavor: Tastes like a cinnamon tequila infusion. Sweetness that hangs on the tongue and a drying pepper heat combine, leaving a slightly nagging aftertaste. I had clearly anticipated more from this tequila. Perhaps a bad bottle?

NOM 1580 | This is the lower proof Mexican release made at 1584. This should not be confused with the American version from 1584 that has a completely different flavor profile.

NOM 1584 | Once letting this rest for ~5 mins it really opens up. It has a very complex agave forward taste / smell with notes of pepper, vegetal, & lactic

128/L9 CP L9 I must say I hate wax tops. Pull the draw string and pieces of wax fly everywhere. Pain in the ass. Hope the tequila stands up to the effort. Aroma is interesting, greener agave, metallic, earthy, raw. Cinnamon covered cauliflower, herbal (plastic/waxy too, from the cap maybe still in my nose). Flavor is green agave (not much sweetness of cooked agave up front), pepper, some mint, grassy, clean. A bit of a lactic funk to it on the back end. It's from NOM 1584 but blindfolded I would have guessed from NOM 1137 - Cofradia. Not a bad thing for me. Probably a confusing review, but I like it and I'd buy it again

L0003 @ 70 Proof (Mexican Version) Good nose with notes of baki g spice, some mild cooked agave, pepper and a little metallic notes. Hint on On the palate is gentle, mostly plain, where pepper notes come in. Somewhat watery aftertaste due to heavy dilution. The 80 proof version should be more complex. Looking forward to taste it.

NOM 1584 | Slight green agave, a tiny bit of caramel, minerals and cinnamon on the nose. The flavor is my favorite part. Lots of cooked agave and cinnamon. Finish has a ton of agave that lingers. Nice and clean tequila.

NOM 1584 | 2nd night: The aroma presents itself with a pronounced grassiness, intertwined with fresh agave, a hint of tidal brine, subtle sweet potato notes, and a peppery ethyl overtness. This olfactory profile lacks complexity, offering a very straightforward experience upon initial assessment. Moving to the palate, the flavor profile mirrors the aroma with consistent grassy notes, accompanied by white pepper, raw agave, and a tidal wave of briny bitterness. However, after allowing the bottle to rest for an hour, notable changes are observed. The brininess and peppery character have subdued a bit, revealing a soft floral note and a hint of butteriness. A mild heat is felt on the throat, adding to the tasting totality. The tasting journey concludes simply, with a faint sweetness accompanied by a presence of alcohol. The consistent thread of brine and grassiness persists, throughout the tasting experience.

NOM 1584 | LOT: 17B View: good tears for a 40º. Freshly served; Aroma: From a particular wood, it could be ocote, but it is difficult for me to define, it is an aroma that I remember but I cannot name it. Definitely from the bark of some tree. Taste: at first sweet and later it gives that note that is perceived in the aroma, Herbal and mineral. I let it rest and oxygenate for 20 minutes. Aroma: That peculiar aroma recedes a little without completely disappearing and it seems to me that it makes way for green chiles, serranos, green peppers, raw jalapenos. Green herbal and mineral. Flavor: The green herbaceousness is present and so are the chilies. Medium sweetness and astringent and slightly spicy aftertaste.

Pepper on the nose with a touch of agave. A little floral scent in there as well. Big vegetal notes on the palate. A lot of anise too. Smooth finish. A strange tequila, but enjoyable.

Smelled cedar/pine wood when popping the cork but that might've been caused by the wax smell since I didn't get much of that in the glass. Smells soft, floral. Taste has a touch of sweetness, citrus rind, with some soft heat and smoke towards the finish. A little different. Not my go to flavor profile. But good.

NOM 1584 | LOT: L9. Aroma: raw agave, briny, cooked tomatoes, aromatic herbs, briny sensation overpowers & becomes dominant. Palate: briny, raw agave, slightly bitter maybe from ethanol. Finish is medium to long, briny agave notes persists.

NOM 1580 | ***Actually NOM 1584*** One of my favorite blancos. It’s got a nice lactic funk to it that reminds me of many well made mezcals, especially mezcals made from Cenizo (Durango), even more specially Acre Cenizo Mezcal. Almost reminds me of queso fresco… This is my go to for margaritas (to my liking at least) and for $35 at Hi-Time this is one heck of a bargain for a sipper. I’d love to see a higher proof version of this blanco.
