Low quality option, cool for collecting rare editions

2007-08 in the wood boxes are what I'm scoring here. Solid and legit and still clean agave profile. The ones in the cardboard boxes that came afterwards are barely drinkable.

From 2016. Nose: Very muted aromas. Some indistinguishable sweetness with some earthiness. Trace spice. A hint of 7 Up citrus. Flavor: Significant black pepper. That sweetness..... with an artificial sweetener aftertaste. Thin, with bitter notes.

Original release from 2007 bottle 4377. Somewhat medicinal on the nose from a Jarrito the flavor is slightly off from some oxidation but still has the fake sweet vibe going on. If this has any involvement since release in the makeup of the XA the flavor of that hides the fake sweet very well. I don't think it does, it was released just to piggy back on the name of that product. Meh. A couple of years ago Cuervo released a Reposado in the line.

Tons of mint and pepper, a little neutral on the nose. I like this tequila but wouldn’t save it for a special occasion.

sugar sweet, pepper, and alcohol on the pallette. bought this as a markdown and was still disappointed, loses points across the board, especially on value.

Marbete is from 2007, bottled on 18-10-07. Aroma: subtle sweet agave, earthy, alcohol sensation is medium-low and I can smell the bitterness from it, slightly citrus, light black pepper. Palate: light sweet cooked agave, slightly citrus & earthy Finish is medium, very light sweet cooked agave with slightly citrus notes persist. I do not smell nor perceive any additives.

Way over priced. It's not the worst tequila you can buy though. It's sweet and largely uninteresting. Pepper and sweetness, not much more. It's ok in mixed drinks, but it gets a bit lost and doesn't bring much that's interesting. For the price you can definitely do better.

Very light, smooth going down, no tequila burn at the end. Would recommend repasado or anejo if available

Wow, wtf?!? Am I drinking tequila or Raicilla? Nose: has that cheesy lactic smell just like a Raicilla, with a little green vegetal aroma. A previous reviewer compared this to Cascahuin Tahona and I’d like to say, IMO, that’s not even close. Taste: Taste matches a lot of the smell. More of that classic lactic Raicilla taste, which is not my cup of tea. I’d never tasted a tequila like this and it makes me wonder if they added additives to make the taste unique to trick the an unassuming consumer to think this is what quality should taste like since this is “Reserva de la Familia” Finish: probably lasts a little longer then I’d like. Can’t shake the Raicilla taste. I may just gargle some Jose Cuervo Gold to get this taste out

Hard to define. A lot of artificial sweetness and aromas. Has that peppery burn but its like alcohol more than pepper. Not going for seconds.

I believe this is an underrated Tequila just for being Jose Cuervo, but this is not the usual Jose Cuervo that you drink in cheap all-inclusive resorts. This is a very well rounded beverage. Deep amazing smell of agave (might be signal of very good quality plants used in this tequila) , some cheese notes (comparable to those in a Cascahuín Tahona), pepper both in the smell and the taste with bit of a nice spicy feeling . Very warm and solid finish with agave still present and some mint. On top of it the bottle and box are gorgeous. Definitely a good quality tequila. You get what you pay for (or more).

Solid, but so many other good options that are much better at a similar price point.

Burning on tongue

Nose: clean agave notes with just a hint of pepper. Inviting. Taste: Starts smooth and then develops some heat on the tongue. Smooth mouthfeel with a feeling that might be glycerin enhances, but not sweet. Strong agave notes and the pepper shows up. Not unpleasant but nothing that makes it a standout blanco worthy of the price it sells for. I don't think I'll buy another of these, but I won't be pouring this down the drain either. it will be a good part of a blanco tasting party.
