Unmistakable earthy NOM 1079 blanco. Warm oily feel with lots of agave, Bazooka Joe, pear, touch of granny Smith coming through nicely. Floral and fruit with sweet agave lingering nicely. Excellent stuff.

NOM 1580 | Appearance: crystal clear with thin, slow tears yet a viscous mouthfeel. Aroma: mineral forward with unripe agave. Vegetal - reminiscent of raw broccoli and cauliflower and under-mature pea pods. Palate: initially hot. Lots of white and black pepper, respectively. Notes of lemon leaves and lime leaves. Not a ton of agave present. Finish: It’s long with a piney, sappy, bitter finish. Like pine needles. At 40%, it presented “hot” and the natural notes of the process didn’t seem to shine through here.

NOM 1580 | NOM 1580 - Air for few minutes —. Excellent aroma of red pepper, agave, stone brick oven, orange, key lime, guava, peppermint, and herbs. Palate follows the aroma flavors and add together pineapple, strawberry and guava. Delicious! Finish is medium full of agave, some heat and peppercorns, guava and strawberry.

Rated blind after aeration. Big agave nose. Agave and herbaceous flavor with sweetness and slight mineral undertones. Smooth with nice pepper finish. Excellent value for sipping or mixing. This will pose a serious challenge to Olmeca Altos for space on my cocktail bar. $20 at BevMo. (0.29)

NOM 1079 | Agave, pepper and anise combine with a nice viscous mouthfeel to make this NOM 1079 version a favorite. Buy them if you find them.

NOM 1580 | When pouring let this mellow out. You’ll get some agave, citrus(lemon or grapefruit),slightly floral and earthy on the nose Taste is of agave, sourness of lemon, vegetalness, white pepper. Has an agave sweetness that stays on tongue.

NOM 1580 | Hello flavor! Picked this up for $40. The finish was the only subpar rating I could give this tequila. All is well, and then, a pinch that feels bitter and sour in my throat. Honest to God, not a big deal, I’ll buy this bottle again and again. I just found the inconsistency from the nose, to flavor, to finish, a little jarring.

NOM 1580 | I was so surprised by this one it’s changed since 1079. However, not a whole lot. It has this sweetness that is with a fruit forward flavor. It has just the right amount of alcohol that balances out for a creamy, agave filled finish. Cinnamon and fruit on the finish as well. I will say this is another sleeper. Long lingering finish. Wonderful Value at 35 dollars. Sorry no longer In production at 1580. These seem to be the best.

NOM 1580 | Despite using agave high in sugar, the flavor profile is very much old fashioned. Very earthy, vegetal, herbal. Agave is dominant. Any vanilla is very floral and easy going. Any sweetness is very welcomed. Excellent blanco.

NOM 1580 | Nice legs and some tears on the glass. Bright and clear. Medium viscous mouthfeel. Nose: agave, orange, lemon, flowers, grapefruit, minerals. Taste: Agave, black pepper, orange, lemon, grapefruit, bell peppers. Finish: jalapeño, and very citrusy. Lots of fresh green vegetal notes. Really tasty. Very straightforward tasty tequila. Vegetal notes all around. Would buy this again.

It's good to pour this and let it open. Aromas are lite at first but open up to fresh agave, floral and minerals. In the month, cooked agave, cinnamon & butter. Finishes with vanilla, grassy spice.

NOM 1586 | Revisiting this blanco from NOM 1586; not liking the taste too much; not bad but just not as good as I remember. Deducted two points

NOM 1580 | NOM 1580. Very strong smell of rain and minerality right when I opened the bottle, followed by bananas and other tropical aromas. Lots of lemon, green veggies, and roasted agave. All of this is rounded out by a solid earthy base. The taste is similar, with the bananas and rain water notes taking me on a journey to the tropics. Butter, lemon, and agave are all along for the ride, with that same underlying earthiness from the aroma. Some kind of sweet fruit in the finish, kind of reminds me of peaches. To sum up, this Blanco has some serious complexity going on, and really takes you on an adventure to a tropical rainforest. You can't go wrong with this one, especially for the price (~$25).

This has a wonderful nose of baked agave. More baked agave a bright clean taste. This blanco finishes nicely, augmenting what I tasted as it goes down. At $61 in anchorage it’s expensive for a blanco but I feel worth it. Problem is it’s hard to find.

NOM 1079 | NOM 1079. NOM 1079. Cooked agave and baking spices on the nose. Clean and simple with a nutty character and a slight earthiness. Soft and cool. Very easy drinking, not challenging but still quite good.

NOM 1079 | NOM 1079. 5/12 Nose of cinnamon and spice, slight menthol and syrup. On the palate it wears a little thin with vegetables and metallic notes. Finish falls off quickly with no alcohol burn. Simple, almost over filtered or distilled quality. Very direct.
