String alcohol smell, but not overpowering on the palette. Spice, sweetnessand nutmeg on the finish and fairly smooth with no lingering burn. A nice sipper.

ADLS Arette Artesanal Suave Repo 46%ABV - 92 Proof This is a single barrel picked by Steven from Austin Dead Liver Society and sold at Tejas Liquor #3 On the nose I get a very pleasant scent of sweet caramelized agave. There’s a faint vegetal and earthy note hiding behind the cooked agave. The barrel notes are light. There’s just a hint of white oak and some natural vanilla. I don’t know how long this reposado was aged but it has a light clean nose. I don’t detect any alcohol vapors but I did let this pour rest a while in my Stolzle Jarrito tasting glass. This is a nice reposado. The cooked agave is up front and it had a nice caramelized agave sweetness along with some caramel and light cinnamon notes from the barrel. Im guessing that this Repo is aged 6 months or less and the barrels have probably been used for a few batches already. The barrels do make an impact but they don’t overpower the agave which should always be a prominent flavor. The proof allows the flavors to be bold and it adds some nice white pepper heat on the finish. This sip lingers and the flavors build from sip to sip. It’s balanced and I’d summarize it as sweet heat. The agave and proof work well together. This is approximately 65 dollars.

LE202210 40% ABV Warming on the initial nasal impact. Aroma cooked agave, baking spice, nutmeg, tropical fruit, vanilla. Buttery mouthfeel with sufficient alcohol. Whiskey barrel notes are up front on this reposado followed by nutmeg, cinnamon, butterscotch, pepper and cooked agave. The long finish carries the pepper and barrel notes throughout. A very reasonably priced reposado.

Light golden color. Thin legs that move down fairly quickly. Cooked agave and some sort of baking spices and maybe hay on the nose. Tastes of sweet cooked agave and vanilla with a notable alcohol gum numbness that’s not unwelcome. Medium finish with some more ethanol heat and the only real place I detected any oak. Good sipper from a great distillery!

The aroma and flavor of this really showcase the difference between the regular line fermented in stainless steel vs. the Suave line fermented in the lined concrete tanks. This has more vegetal notes on the nose along with cooked agave. It will be interesting to see how these 2 lines change as the new oven, which replaced one of the autoclaves, comes fully into play. This has a good amount of barrel notes of wood and caramel. Finish grabs the throat a bit and holds this back in my rating. Still a solid product from a small family owned distillery.

Something has lost me in the reposado, it’s missing it’s vibrant agave. Still a serviceable tequila, well made by people who get it.

Nose: Vanilla, tropical fruit, boysenberry and a hint of cider. A lactic funky note and anise. Flavor: Cinnamon, nutmeg, a nice pepper kick and butterscotch. Finishes medium long with cooked agave and pepper.

They throw out 40% of the distillate—20% off both the head and tail. After aeration. Aroma of agave, alcohol, caramel and vanilla. Thin legs. Flavor of slightly sweet, dry oak, with hints of agave. Nice, if short, pepper on the finish with a lasting numbing sensation. Recommended, but for this price, can't blame you for going with something else. Check out the Tequila Whisperer's show on the vertical flight of this Suave line. Bottle 571-600, Edition AKD25-R Purchased at Old Town Liquor & Deli

Mexican 38% abv. versión, lote: LK222311, bottled on 07-12-2023, on the marbete QR code it states: Tequila El Gran Viejo Reposado, what?! Tasted on 4-19-24. Color: light yellow. Aroma: light cooked agave, light acidity, hint of citrus, light wood note, aromas are quite subtle. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, alcohol sensation is medium to medium high, ends slightly bitter. Finish is medium, light cooked agave, light acidity, hint of sweetness with light wood notes persist but not too long.

Mainly getting light oak and caramel with floral notes in the background on the nose. Touch of sweetness on taste with same notes as nose along with a champagne like flavor. Not the tastiest or most complex repo I had but pretty good.

This is an incredible tequila. The aroma is amazing- pops with agave- vanilla- caramel- light pepper. On the palate this only gets better- wet agave, freshly cut grass with caramel and vanilla its light pepper- with a thick velvet agave wetness. The finish is very good. Does not last as long as I would like and a little more white pepper or numbing spice at the end would make it amazing.

Nice nose! Dominant cherry aroma, with hints of vanilla, caramel and light touch of alcohol. Light straw color. Mildly sweet with oak and barrel spice, berries, vanilla, and great cinnamon-spice in the nice long finish. Sampled at La Cava…. Might be my favorite Repo.

Arette Artesanal Reposao $53 USD @ Ferment and Still Overall: Solid sipper, great price. Nose: Pronounced punch of cooked agave with a slight vegetalness, with orange blossom and jasmine floralness, with nutmeg and cinammon spice. I get a slight white grape cider note which very bright, light, and refreshing but not particularly common for reposados. The more this rests in the glass, the more pronounced the cinnamon becomes. Taste: Thin legs, a nice peppery zip, and a great buttery mouthfeel. Slightly sweet and dry oak (stealing from Rick Levy). Cooked agave, slightly fruity, with light cinnamon and nutmeg. A real pleasure to sip. Finish: Finishes short, but some lingering sweet vegetalness with light lingering notes of black pepper and cinnamon.

This stuff is so good. Not to heavy on the pepper or the oak. Agave isn’t over powered by the oak or the vanilla notes. I like this better than the Ocho Reposada.

(Newly cracked bottle at restaurant ) The aroma presents the prominence of ethyl, not meeting expectations while mating with a noticeably subdued cinnamon profile compared to the classic Repo. Gradually, notes of caramel, honey, vanilla, and light minerality become discernible. In terms of taste, there is the distinct presence of cinnamon akin to the Classic Arette Repo, although less pronounced. Alongside this, flavors of pepper, vanilla, orange, brine, and agave sweetness contribute to the overall taste profile, all the while retaining a strong ethyl resonance. The finish reveals a light pepper note and a distinct freshness, persisting into the dry down. Ethyl remains consistently present from start to finish, accompanied by subtle earthiness and lingering traces of cinnamon. I look forward to attaining a bottle, let it breath for awhile, three days or so to reassess.

Light clean nose with a light oak fragrance. Butterscotch notes with light agave flavor. Finish is a tad astringent, but pleasant. This is from a single barrel expression, and it’s very straightforward and enjoyable.
