I was surprised by the overwhelming herbal and earthy notes in Arrete’s blanco. Maybe the subliminal message of the horse got to me, but the aroma reminded me of a farm and the taste reminiscent of an herbal tea. I can’t say it’s bad, but not my cup of tea (pun intended).

Good value proposition, I recently realized I hadn’t rated this while sipping it so as good time as any. It probably is the expression I like the least in the lineup but it is still very good both as a mixer and for sipping.

On the nose, agave, and lots of floral/fruity notes. It’s got a salty aroma, and I’m getting something that is almost like banana. Very interesting. On the palate, Sweet, floral and fruity right off the bat. Definitely cooked agave, but it’s mixed in the floral and fruity medley. Very soft, tasty. Not a ton going on, but very easy drinking. A little anise on the finish. Very little heat. I am kicking myself in the ass for not forking out the extra $4 to get the 1L. This is rock solid, and amazingly priced at $22, which I paid in a random liquor store in San Diego. This is the cheapest sipper I’ve ever had, and I think it’s gonna be a damn good mixer if I go that route. Superb, definitely grab a bottle if you’re interested in a neat budget bottle that drinks way above its price.

Aroma : Cooked agave, light fruit, pepper and earth. Somewhat floral. Taste : Agave, pepper and citrus. Also some light cinnamon, and slightly hot. This is fairly light in oils. Finish : Medium length with higher emphasis on peppery spice, there is some cinnamon here too.

Takes a minute to build up but nice agave and green pepper corn notes, finish lingers on without end. Gotta say this is a complete bargain for the price.

Nose: Light colored fruit and agave start. Followed with pepper, an herbal and a floral note, and earthiness. Flavor: Vanilla, cinnamon and a hot pepper blast. On the “rustic/macho” side. Finishes with pepper and hints of grapefruit rind. A Jackfruit tang finish.

The first time I tasted Arette was at the Tijuana Tequila Expo in 2005. After tasting somewhere around 50 blancos (although my mouth felt like it was a thousand, as it was in my early days of tequila tasting), Arette was one of only 2 brands that I was blown away by, on that day. Ever since, I have had a fondness for Arette! And while I may not find their blanco to be overly complex these days, it has has some nice machismo-ness to it, a good finish, and a singular taste that helps it stand apart in the vast sea of tequila brands.

Listen. This is one of my go to tequilas when I just need something good. I love the notes of pepper, citrus, and even a hint of honey. It has a clean finish and is very good on the palette. Good to sip clean or add in a mixed drink.

Arette Blanco - Tasting Notes NOM: 1109 Nose: * Raw Agave * Funk * Brine * Savory Flavor * Brine/Olive * Butter * Brown Sugar Finish * Longer than expected * Brown sugar * Black Pepper Verdict * Wow. Another 1109 knock out. Everything I want in a blanco. A low/medium sweetness carries this beautiful brine flavor through the palate. Some butteriness in savory flavor and a really nice mouthful feel. More viscous than your average. If you want to shock someone as to what a sipping blanco can be, this is a great starting place. AND FOR THE PRICE?! It’s hard to buy other blancos if they are not as good and double the price. Must try.

Perfect marg mixer. Nose gives me vegetal, alcohol, mint, and wet cement Taste I get vegetal like chewing on leaves, some honey, small amount of vanilla or cinnamon, and wood chippy taste, maybe it’s oak

Bottle: LH022302 Appearance: Clear Nose: Cooked agave, citrus, lime, black and white pepper, minerality, cinnamon, lemongrass, smoke, green apple, and alcohol…interesting enough, but not overly complex Palate: Cooked agave, minerality, black pepper, wet grass, bell pepper, vegetal, parsley, cinnamon, metallic, alcohol, and slightly astringent…far more vegetal than the nose Finish: Warming cinnamon, baking spice, and lime…longer duration and spicy Overall: Initially upon opening, there was a slight bitterness/harshness that completely disappeared after the neck pour. Similarly, the finish was a bit hard to pin down until after the initial sampling. The settled profile was rather enjoyable and, given the price and availability, this is a winner for either everyday sipping or cocktails.

Small 50ml. miniature bottle, Mexican 40% Alc. Vol. a 20 degrees C(elcius) version, lot: H130107, marbete is from 1999, tasted on 4-15-24. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, intense agave fibers, acidity, hint of citrus, earthy note that gets more intense as time goes by and has a herbal sensation, after 20 minutes in the glass a hint of resinous sweetness and hint of fruitiness emerges. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and citrus balance, hint of pepper spiciness, earthy, sweet agave fibers, hint of soapy aroma through my retronasal. Finish is medium to medium long, light sweet cooked agave, hint of pepper spiciness, light sweet agave fibers with a hint of earthiness persists.

Wow- this is an incredible tequila. The aroma is earthy agave with pepper- and more earth- maybe wet grass. On the palate it’s delicious. Agave forward with light pepper- mineral- wet grass- and more complexity that I can’t put into words. Citrus floral basil with agave throughout. The finish- amazing but not lasting long enough- agave silliness hangs to the end with a slight numbing basil finish.
