While I thoroughly enjoy the Blanco, the Reposado fell a bit short for me. It’s certainly well made, but the barrel influence seems to mute the explosive agave character that made the Blanco so memorable. In its place is a more wood-forward, whiskey-like profile with pepper and citrus that I can appreciate on its own terms—but it feels like a departure, almost like an entirely different spirit rather than a progression. (I normally disregard price rating but in this instance I had to rate the price in order to get the current score)

Zumbador Repo Adjusting up for value Nose: barrel notes, agave, pepper, subtle vanilla, a little alcohol Palate: agave barrel notes. Finish: warm and peppery with some sweet vamilla on the end Nice easy sipper A little lower rating than the blanco Rated with average value because I don't know price. Will adjust id need be when i know cost.

The 12 weeks of aging in Ex-American Oak Whiskey barrels truly imparts more than I expected. This young Reposado has a very present aroma of barrel spice sitting on top of the aromas of the blanco. It’s agave, pepper and minerals. The barrel spice stands out on the palate too. I’m guessing these barrels are first fill barrels for tequila. The agave is still very present as is the minerality and the vegetal peppers. This is a tasty Reposado that’s packed with flavor. There’s even some hints of orange peel. It’s a great flavorful Reposado at an outstanding price around 30.

On the nose you get cooked agave, some butterscotch, vanilla, and I get like a smoked BBQ note. It all transfers to the palate. Super high in value. I paid 25 bucks for the repo.

This is a beautiful agave-forward repo with a looooong, extremely pleasant finish. It has no business being priced where it is ($30!). My god, what a tremendous value.

Mexican 40% abv. versión, lote: L750ZR0001, bottled on 08-11-2024, tasted on 1-11-25. Color: just a tad of yellow. Aroma: cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light acidity, light citrus, hint of pepper spiciness, light orange, hint of earthiness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, good sweet sour and citrus balance, hint of white pepper, hint of fruitiness. Finish is medium to medium long, light cooked agave, citrus, earthy with a hint of fruitiness persists.

Agave forward in the nose similar to the blanco with a beautiful and subtle rounding out finish from the barrel that compliments rather than over powers the agave flavor.
