This is my first agave infused tequila. I was on the fence about buying it but my friends told me I needed to get it. I’m glad I did. The nose is so aromatic. I get agave and peach fruit, and mango. It has cinnamon and caramel The taste is sweet agave with that Ocho profile. I get fruits and floral tastes. Just a hint of smoke. Apple and cherry. This is nice on the tongue and a good little sipper.
Unique nose, some barrel notes on the nose. Decent palate with some pepper on the finish. Not bad
Unique, always a pleasure to find a tequila that’s trying something new. Out of left field comes a hearty amount of smoke, earthy tones, and spices. Rounded out by cooked agave, Curado is offering something that is not too common in the tequila industry, experimentation.
tried at Gracia ballard Feb 11 2023 Azul Agave pepper some minerality citrus a little cinnamon a little Hard to get nose because I'm sippin out of glass copita Cupreata Similar profile Agave pepper vanilla caramel a little smoke pepper Espadin Similar palate close to the azul not smokey. Has another flavor I haven't pegged yet, maybe pine Will try these again when I'm able to give them more time and revisit ratings
I’m glad to find this one in a liquor store in Puerto, Nuevo Mexico. The aroma and the taste are dissimilar in wonderful ways. The aroma changes as I let it sit in the glass for around 15 minutes. The aroma is a little underwhelming, but it does have a good subtle notes of cooked agave, fruit, and maybe even dark brown sugar. Once again, though very light. The taste is where this one shines it’s incredibly thick and oily in the mouth. Instantly you get delicious cooked agave, and a really robust earthiness that I really appreciate. While I don’t get any smoky flavor, I think I’m getting the other infused agave taste. Quite complex. The finish is good and long and stays with the earthy profile. I might have to go back to the store and get the other two varieties.
Nose: Cooked agave, cinnamon, clove Palate: Cooked agave, smoke Finish: Some heat. Very enjoyable
Earthy and fruity on the nose. Tasting agave, earth, cinnamon, citrus rind. This is very nice!
Had all three, as someone stated, very similar in profile/flavors with sameness probably due to process and differences due to agaves used in infusion. Aromas of strong cooked agave, cinnamon, vanilla, spices and faint caramel. Flavor of cooked agave, burnt sugar, some jalapeño/oily residue with certain sweetness. A nice change of pace and good conversation piece for sure. A must for any collection.
My favorite of all three expressions. The profile complexity and finish are just espectacular!
Cooked agave on the nose, some earthiness, and some baking spices. There’s a distinct spiciness to it that is interesting. Nutmeg. If I didn’t know better, I’d say this was barrel aged, there are some similar notes there. It almost has that barrel spice on the nose. A touch of black pepper. A noticeable sweetness. On the palate, it is spicy indeed! Immediately baking spices, and pepper, with agave on the back end and in the finish. Very oily, heavy body. This is very good, I will almost certainly be seeking out a bottle and looking to try the rest of the lineup.
lot 002 from 2019. I need to think on this for a bit...so much complexity.
Tequila Curado Cupreata This is an infused 100% Blue Weber Agave Blanco. They take 1000 liters of 100 proof Blanco and then place 21 kgs of cooked Cupreata from José Guadalupe Pérez in Michoacán into cotton bags that are then seeped for 5 days. It’s then filtered to remove particles and proofed to 40% abv - 80 proof. The color comes from the infusion. This tequila isn’t aged nor rested in oak. Originally this was going to be an extension to the Tequila Ocho line but it’s an independent brand with 2 other infusions. On the nose the cooked agave is present but it isn’t as pronounced as it is in the Weber or Espadin infused tequilas. There’s a slight spiciness and warmth to the nose. I taste the cooked agave but it’s enveloped in baking spices and with the agave sweetness it tastes like it’s slightly Aged in American Oak, which it isn’t. The spices intensify into the medium finish where the depth of flavors continue to unravel. Overall this is the most complex of the three and the most interesting but they are all delicious and uniquely different.
Easy sipper… earthy … some baking spices … slight heat in the beginning… cooked agave is present
Very easy sipper. Nice viscous mouthfeel with agave, earthiness, butterscotch, fruit and light white pepper that tingles on the tongue
Lot BC-CU- 002 01/10/2019 Nose: Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and an aroma very similar to oak barreling. Honey like agave sweetness, earthiness, some smokey notes, and bread dough. Flavor: Smokiness and pepper make the first assault. The baking spices and slightly bitter pepper follow in the next wave. Fairly thick in the mouth with a sweetness tinged with white pepper. I have sampled all three of the currently available Curados de Don Tomas. There are distinctions among them, but there is a curious “sameness” to them.
Agave, citrus, black pepper, and smoke on the nose. oily, thicker mouthfeel than most. Taste is agave, smoke, pepper, and light citrus/ mellon flavors. the smoke really comes forward in the mouth and lasts through the finish. Finish is smoke, pepper, agave/mellon. Smooth, with no noticeable alcohol presence, the smokiness is slightly bitter but not offsetting. Good sipper with a slight departure from the norm.
Aroma: lots of agave, pepper, and baking spices. Pretty complex. Taste: agave forward and very peppery. I’m picking up fruit and baking spices. Maybe it’ll be more distinguishable as it opens up some more, but overall it’s very pleasant. Finish: quite long and peppery. It really lingers. Overall: I think it’s excellent. I also really like the designs on the bottles. Very unique and interesting.
Lot BC-CU-003 13/05/2020 Aroma: tons of piney resinous and earthy, almost dirt-like notes with possibly some butter Flavor: caramel and toffee with some mint and eucalyptus and a touch fusil alcohol Mouthfeel: light body and not much alcohol burn Finish: finishes sweet but short Color: light golden honey
I won't go into great detail but I will say I was pleasantly surprised by this one. On its own without the addition of the Cupreata it's a solid blanco. The added Cupreata gives it a mellow, subtle smokiness. The agave is still front and center though in both the aroma and the taste. It's a solid finish as well and a pretty viscous liquid in th glass. Overall very pleased with this and got it for a great value at $29.99. I might try their other expressions as well.
Aroma : agave, peppers Taste : agave, pepper and smoky Finish is smooth and spicy
I agree with Taste Agaves assessment in both nose and palate. Sweet on the nose, vanilla for sure. The palate is agave, smoke, pepper, mezcal-esque, with a sweet, smoke finish for me. I enjoyed it very much
Some vanilla and caramel on nose. On taste, getting various agave flavors with notes of a Sotol and Mezcal. Sweetness, bitterness, citrus, light anise, smoke, and pepper. Great option when I want to sip on something different.
Solid scent, good flavor, and I like the the finish. Solid!
LOT BC-CU-001. Bottled on 26/12/2018 in La Alteña. Color: very light yellow. Aroma: sweet cooked agave! Mineral, green, stone fruit sweetness, earthy. Palate: smoked sweet agave, slightly acidic & lactic, green grass, menthol, earthy. Finish is medium to long on the flavors mentioned above but at the very end it tastes like a sweet cooked yam that is slightly cloying.

Solid blanco here. Smokey and earth with cinnamon and pepper mixed in. Definitely with a try.
