On the nose, oak, vanilla and caramel. I’m not really picking up much agave. Very sweet nose. On the palate, the vanilla and oak are stars of the show. Barrel spice, caramel, and something like toffee. Moderate sweetness, very oily and full bodied. Overall this isn’t bad. A little sweet and overoaked for my taste, but it’s drinkable and enjoyable. Not sure about additives, a slight bitterness makes me wonder but it’s not over the top.
Vanilla, oak, agave, grapefruit — approachable drinker, albeit a bit sweet for me
Sampled neat in a brandy snifter at a restaurant for USD17 a pour. Price seems fair. I've had the other Azuñia expressions and this is the stand out. Aroma and flavor: agave, caramel, heavy barrel influence, toffee, slightly minty, cherry, stone fruit. Finish: pepper, agave sweetness, barrel notes, long and lingering. A pleasant mouthfeel, but no / next to no noticeable alcohol.
Basic profile, agave, citrus and tons of black pepper. Starts sweet (cooked agave), but then that flavor is minimized by spices (pepper/anise), astringency and acetone flavors. Decent mixer but high on price for what it offers.
