US Release - 80 proof (40% abv) This tequila is about to be available in the United States. This 100% Agave Azul is 40% abv (80 proof) and made at NOM1494. They use close cut pinas that are cooked in stone ovens, macerated in roller mills and distilled twice is stainless steel stills. - The nose is bright and slightly green. The fresh cut agave appears first followed by some slight vegetal notes. There’s a presence of celery, faint honeydew mellon rind and some soft minerality. There’s also some floral notes of fresh roses. I also detect some alcohol vapors. - I taste the bright agave that’s accompanied with some agave sweetness and minerality. There’s a soft pepper that follows while the sweet agave lingers. There’s also a sweetness akin to red fruits but it’s subtle and appears on the finish. The melon also makes a quick appearance. Overall this is an easy sipper that gives you agave and soft sweetness (agave & fruit) with just a tad of pepper and slight alcohol tingle. Unknown price. (8pts)
Perfume nose with floral notes and slight mint. Sweet in the mouth with a bitter note in the finish.
The aroma is much better than the taste. It had an interesting aroma of mint & grass. Now the taste was quite flat and not memorable. It was disappointing because it’s a beautiful bottle!
Aroma: mint, pepper & grass Flavor: fake fruit & gum Really flat and no body/complexity
Some melon in the aroma, which is a nice throwback to how tequila tasted many years ago. Flavor is light caramel, agave, and vanilla. Super easy to drink, and not all that complex.
