Nose: Agave, oak, cinnamon, mint, fruit (strawberry), and slight hint of raisin. Palate: Brine, minerals, oak, black pepper, cooked agave and well water Finish: Enjoyable on the gums and coats the mouth walls very well.

tried a sample at EsperanzArte in Cabo 11/22/23. I enjoyed it very much. Would like to revisit when I can give it more attention

The balance, complexity, and finesse on this Reposado is amazing. I got to blind taste this against Classe Azul, and the comparison is not even close! Not only is the Classe Azul clearly flavored heavily with caramel and mexican vanilla, but the 6 different fermentation methods (3 vessels with and without fibers) used by Loco adding complexity, but the multiple barrel types (Irish Whiskey, Stout Beer, Tawny Port, PX Sherry, and French White Oak) add depth of subtle aromas and character to the agave drive profile. The elements including alcohol are so well integrated that the experience is more akin to fine wine tasting than spirit tasting. Respectively, then scores on this Tequila to me seem impacted by an expectation of this being in line with the more in your face, abocantes/alcohol driven profile of modern main steam Tequilas rather than this combination of artisanal and ancestral with innovative techniques. Even the details sheet on here misses the extent to which they are going to in creating this unique Tequila!

Fantastic caramel and dark roasted agave on the nose. Rich, cinnamon, dark caramel, and baking spices on the mid palate, with a supple and balanced oak finish similar to a well done Bas Armagnac, with lingering deep finish.

This tequila is silky and warm, balancing fruit and caramel. The finish is elegant, mostly sweet with a hint of minerality and bitterness.

I found it to have a very subtle aroma and flavor. Very light agave, vanilla and oak aroma and flavor. It is pleasant. However, it is overpriced and not my thing.

LOTE 332, bottled on 210123, tasted on 11-1-23. On the front of the bottle below Ámbar it states: Edición Limitada 2023. On the inside of the box it states that this tequila is a blend of tequilas aged for 6 to 8 months in the following ex-casks: Irish whiskey, stout beer, port, Pedro Ximenez sherry & new French white oak casks. This is an example when you try to do too much… Color: dark yellow. Aroma: at the beginning it is not expressive, after 15 minutes in the glass light sweet cooked agave, light vanilla, sweetness that is not from agave but feels natural, a touch of herbaceous. Alcohol sensation is low. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, slightly drying similar to a finish of a dry beer, however stout is not dry, or probably from wood tannins. Slightly herbaceous. Finish is medium to long, sweetness that is not from agave, light cooked agave and light wood notes persist.

Right out of the gate you get a craft beer aroma followed up with cooked sweet Agave. It has really subtle hints of citrus and floral. On the palate there’s minerals, grass and caramel with a slight high ABV stout beer taste. This is a very interesting and unique poor from Nom 1123.
