Nose: amazing chocolate and rich caramel notes / sweet on the nose - like a vanilla and chocolate meet agave for a blind date, and it goes so great that one of them thinks about a long term relationship Taste: agave is still in the picture but the wave of barrel notes including that delicious chocolate note is deliciously overwhelming. Vanilla, roasted honey and caramel keep lasting throughout the whole sip and they introduce some interesting baking spice and very mild cinnamon. Only the lightest of smoke notes appears but is so light as to go largely unnoticed. Finish: this anejo has a lingering chocolate note that gets a touch bitter at the back of the palate. I thoroughly enjoyed this anejo and it surprised me with such a low smoke note for Amatitena! I recommend this bottle.

Amazing nose, cherry, caramel, vanilla, classic barrel-bourbon notes, pallet is solid, same notes, gunky middle but nice on front and finish, have to revisit

Upon first nose, I get Apricot, smoke, Oak and cooked agave. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied. The smoke carries it all the way home but additionally I'm getting even more oak, some vanilla and black pepper on the finish. I found this to be much more enjoyable than the reposado, which I didn't hate either! Salud!

Beautiful color. A little bit of smoke on the nose due to the open flame cooking. A nice sweetness on the palate with agave still there. Chocolate. This is a great Anejo. Alberto’s answer to those that say he can only make sweet tequilas. A must try.

Striking color on this añejo. Copper hues. Nose: Ripe berries, dried dark cherry, dried citron. Cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. A delicate Mezcal/slightly medicinal/floral fragrance. Earthiness. Trace smokiness that is signature to the previous expressions of this range - but mellowed in intensity. Flavors: Richly sweet. Luxurious, oily palate sensation, with a touch of saltiness. Fruit and floral, with a punch of pepper. No lurking campfire notes to ambush the timid. A nuanced mingling of elements. Elegant? Finish: This was just a neck poor and deserves a revisit….

42% ABV Tasted at Bowl of 'Zole fest 2022. Could only take short tasting notes. Aroma: Slight smoke, dried stone fruit, caramel, chocolate Flavor: Dried stone fruit and cherry, vanilla, caramel, spice. Oily mouthfeel with sufficient heat and nice finish. The high proof blanco and the anejo are the standouts. Not available in NY yet, I'll definitely buy it as soon as it does

Nice medium-dark amber color with great legs. Aroma is... what the heck is that hit of smoke? I live in Michoacan which is mezcal country. I wasn't expecting that in my tequila. Once past that I get the oak, caramel and the cooked agave is way down there. Flavor is just a lovely hint of the smoke with vanilla, oak and buttery. Pleasant medium finish makes me long for more with a cigar.

This is a nice anejo. Little smoke to the start, with loads of caramelized caramel, that leads into fruit, buttery, some anise and a nice light peppery finish

Dried dark cherries, caramel, barrel spice, Irish whisky. Rested one year in ex red wine barrels, the smoke from the Blanco is almost gone at this point. Nice legs on this one. A bold Añejo with some deep flavor. I enjoyed this during a tasting event at Osito’s Tap in Chicago, and this was my favorite during the vertical flight.

Oh, this is nice and I typically don’t love añejos. Lots of dried fruit, caramel, and molasses in the aroma. There’s a tiny bit of smoke and that heightens these aromas. This is even more enjoyable than the reposado. Flavor has sweet long-lasting vanilla and dried fruit that lingers through into the finish. Super pleasant and interesting.

Aromas of smoke, tobacco, dark chocolate and leather. Sweet and pleasant in the mouth. Prefer it to the repo since the smoke is minimized.

This one was hard for me to enjoy. The earthy, lactic notes of the tequila combined with the barrel notes was just too much. Not by any means saying it’s bad but too complex and not for my palette.

Love the wet tobacco leaf notes that come through on nose similar to the HP. Taste is not barrel heavy like the color suggests. Flavor focuses on oak spice, salt, cinnamon, touch of smoke, and an underlying bitterness with ethanol. A little thin for my liking...expected more complexity. Nose has more going on and is better than the taste. Still, different from the typical anejo profile.

Tasted as a flight at Palenque. Bright agave with a pleasant smokiness. The barrel notes were a nice complement to the tequila.

Aroma: definitely heavy on the oak. I didn’t get much agave, but maybe it will open up after a few days. Taste: bourbon/whiskey folks will really like this one. Lots of brown sugar, cinnamon, and spice in the flavor profile. Finish: this one lingers for sure. There is a nice peppery kick at the end. Overall: this is a good one for sure. It has a very strong flavor profile that bourbon folks will appreciate. It’s also pretty dark compared to other añejos. I’m guessing the char on the barrels was a lot darker, but I’d not sure. I’ll definitely need to re-visit it after a week or so.

Tequila whisky at it's finest. caramelised very balanced, I like this very much yes. Definitely some oil and oak, buttery but not too much. I would like to have this in the collection to taste time to time as an addition to whiskey

Agave, caramel, cinnamon, vanilla, butter, fruit, mellow smoke. A surprisingly good tequila from 1477. I pass on many other 1477 brands (too sweet) but I’m glad I tried this one.
