Aroma: Oak Caramel, Butterscotch, Cinnamon, Vanilla amd baking spice. Mouthfeel: Medium Bodied Taste: Caramel, Butterscotch, Oak, Vanilla, Clove Finish: Butterscotch, Cinnamon, Black Pepper, Vanilla and Maybe a little overkill with the Oak.
NOM 1616 | A really tasty XA but wow the price. Will definitely be out of reach for a lot of people. Besides that, a really complex XA coming from the French oak Cabernet barrels. Nose: cooked agave, oak, vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, cinnamon, fruit, and chocolate. Palate: cooked agave, oak, caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, and raisins. A really good and great sipping XA but loses some points for the price point.
NOM 1616 | The aroma is potent with cherry oak, barrel spice, whiskey, and wood The taste is bold: cherry, oak, cacao, spice, wine, whiskey, citrus, molasses, tropical, minerality, brine, and barrel spice Finish is lasting with tropical notes, cooked agave and minerality. Pleasant, decadent and refined but not overtly thrilling. Made for cigars and winters. Would buy again.
Solid xtra aged añejo, but the price point is too high. Far better options available for much less!
NOM 1616 | Caramel, earth, oak, leather, whisky, butterscotch, spice, and a touch of orange bitters. Pricey.
NOM 1616 | Nose- Peat, chocolate, cinnamon, caramel. Pallet- Sweet, chocolate, cooked agave, slight pepper, coffee. Finish- leathery smooth, light lingering pepper with amazing cooked agave on the back end.
NOM 1616 | Aroma of strong caramel, oak, cooked agave and pitted fruit Taste is similar- caramel up front then close behind is a cooked agave presence with little oak following. and finishes with a pitted fruit.
NOM 1500 | Very good tequila, however the price point significantly hurts the overall score
NOM 1616 | Aroma: Deep notes of butterscotch, oak, vanilla, with fainter notes of cooked agave. Taste: Matches the aroma almost exactly, slightly sweet. Finish: Smooth, with a nice tequila agave alcohol bite at the end. Overall: An excellent XA tequila, similar to the añejo but with a more deep developed taste. Loses some points on value, however.
NOM 1500 | Really like the XA. Spice and dried fruit. Balanced and finished well. Would of scored higher except the for the price point.
NOM 1500 | Fantastic juice! Loads of cooked agave, earth, wine, vanilla, oak, cinnamon, clove, and a dry finish. No shortcuts here. The $300 price tag was steep but this is among the best that are aged 5 years or more.
NOM 1500 | Deep, rich aroma with earth/clay, caramel and vanilla upfront. Underlying fruit and floral notes as well. Unique flavor with a strong note of coffee immediately present. The barrel is also very present. The finish is relatively short with a persistent coffee note. I was excited to try this tequila and while I wouldn't say I am disappointed I would say it is over-priced ($225) and more in the category of the Reserva de la Familia than other XAs that I prefer. 12/30/2016 - 4th Annual Xmas XA tasting.
NOM 1500 | Aroma: very complex and interesting. Mainly consisting of two notes: clay and caramel. Each time I get a different mix. There is also a bit of berry. Flavor: Overwhelmingly heavy with oak and coffee. This is very much what I would consider a whisk(e)y drinkers tequila. Very barrel heavy. Not my favorite flavors but I can appreciate knowing there are certain people who would love this. Finish: Finish is nice but not quite as good as the Anejo.
NOM 1616 | Hints of menthol. If cough syrup made a mezcal this would be it!
Strong caramel, oak, butterscotch, cooked agave aroma. Similar flavor profile. Finish is a bit alcoholy.
NOM 1616 | MGM Grand Main Bar, Las Vegas Barrel influence is HEAVY on the nose, absolute oak bomb. Not a lot of agave here for the nose.. very faint. For an XA the flavor hits hard on the palate immediately.. but fizzles out quickly after. Very short finish with some cooked agave and heavy oak. Decent pour, would not spend the price for this bottle at the store personally.
one of the best tequilas I've ever had, shame it's so expensive.
NOM 1616 | Fabulous!
NOM 1616 | Certainly best of the Codigos. Woody aroma. Hints of vanilla and caramel. But not as complex or interesting as compared to non-additive brands in the same price bracket or below.
NOM 1616 | Great, with a cognac like finish.
Oak and sherry in the nose. Caramel and vinous flavors and cooked agave. Excellent finish nice sipper.
NOM 1616 | A classic XA. Aromas of cinnamon, oak, caramel, vanilla with an undertone of cooked agave. More agave on the palate compare to the nose with notes of vanilla, oak, black pepper, and raisin. The finish was alright, it was just a little hot for an XA.
Frosted Limited Edition Codigo is a must try.

NOM 1616 | On the nose it is a butterscotch bomb. I also get caramel and vanilla and some oakiness Very similar palate. Butterscotch, caramel, vanilla and oak. This may be my favorite from Codigo. It is a decent XA. I’d drink others over it for sure but would not turn it down.
