Overwhelming BBQ taste, to be fair I’m not trying this with a neutral palette but it’s like smoked ribs on the 4th of July. Light on character outside the smoke, I pick up a hint of sweetness but it disappears almost right away. This isn’t going to make my hall of fame but it’s unique and I can appreciate that.
While the blanco i could get behind, a lot was lost in the reposado. It was too rounded out and shallow. I had to hunt for the flavor profile typical of what you would find in a reposado. It wasn’t bad, by any means, it just didn’t give me the oomph i was seeking.
Too many other good tequilas to drink so don't waste your time
Mediocre tequila. I couldn’t find anything to really like about it. Seemed light in the agave and heavy on the alcohol. It’s not the worst thing out there but…
NOM 1438 | Liquor store sampling…. Had higher hopes based on a decent experience with their Blanco. Unfortunately, there’s nothing really good here. Nose, palate and finish just not good. Won’t have again, can’t recommend.
NOM 1438 | Decent sipping mild reposado. Sweet vanilla with little pepper.
nose: caramel, rum, acetone and candy palate: Notes of artificial sweetner, acetone, spicy rum with hints o caramel finish: simply artificial with a acetone after taste maybe for mixed drinks
Fair for the price. Good for margs. Decent flavor. Not too smooth.
Bottle: LOTE: C ANEN 158, 16/07/22 L5 PSC Appearance: Green tea Nose: Oak, vanilla, artificial sweetener, barrel spice, cream soda, rubber, alcohol, whiskey, acrid smoke, honey, and trace cooked agave…not terrible, but also not terribly like tequila Palate: Astringent, acetone, oak, pine, artificial sweetener, rubbing alcohol, turpentine, and wood varnish…this is really bad Finish: Acetone, rubbing alcohol, and cigarette ash…required an orange juice chaser Overall: The nose on this reposado isn’t as misleading as it is with their blanco (which is deceptively passable) and I’d probably struggle to identify this as tequila in a blind test based on nose alone. However, the palate and finish were intolerable. I was able to sample enough to finish the review, but I can’t see myself reaching for this again.
Really disappointed with this Reposado. Bought it on a whim after total wine and more hype. Nasty neat and on ice. Good for mixing but don’t drink tequila mixed. This bottle is going down the drain.
For Mixed Drinks
a good repo. some traces of vanilla. the finish is a little weak. great value
Total Wine's house brand tequilla is a hard pass. The nose is perfumed and the taste is harsh. Grab something else and don't let the price persuade you. I wouldn't even think to mix this.
Caramel, oak
Floral (very) almost like perfume Citrus Caramel (light) Vanilla (light)
Alcohol overpowered, but sweet agave and a nice finish
Alcohol
Aroma Alcohol followed by cooked agave and oak. Taste Artificial vanilla and caramel followed by oak and cooked agave.
EPDMT is like the house brand at Total Wine. They have multiple shelves filled with it throughout the store. Light on the nose, with a faint rubbing alcohol smell and not much else. Big on the tongue with a floral, melony sweetness that lingers though the finish. Slightly oily mouthfeel that coats your throat and palate. A good sipper as is. It would be a level up if the nose matched the tongue.
Strong smell of cooked agave and a hint of oak. Flavor again of cooked agave and a peppery finish. Very middle of the road for me.
Aroma: hints of vanilla, roasted agave, slight alcohol smell/burn Flavor: light roast taste, little woody. Finish: delayed burn, dry finish. Pepper and clove
it is good for price...I need to try to compare with the top quality for a better feel for value evaluation.
The nose definitely is of cooked agave and citrus. Taste is ok, hints of spice, not too much complexity and no alcohol burn. Maybe a little too smooth, but not unpleasant either. Finish is short and a hint of spice.
Enjoy sipping chilled and also in margarita

some mix of cooked and green agave, grass, caramel on aroma. very subtle agave flavor, caramel. no complexity
