Feb 28, 2023 Grand Mayan Blanco NOM 1173 This is an old bottle (8 or 10 yrs old) that I had previously tried but never rated. I'm going thru some stuff we have on the shelves that I've never rated. These are not expressions i typically drink. Immediately smell alcohol, then some agave, pepper and citrus. I'm not getting cake batter or fake vanilla on the nose like some others get. I honestly am juat getting a lot of alcohol. On the palate a get a little more sweetness than nose but it is not overly fake tasting. More pepper and some heat. Overall, it doesn't taste horrible but there's something unpleasant about it. Perhaps the high-pressure autoclave or triple distillation processing ???
NOM 1459 | Thanks Dustin! Aroma is not great with some agave but overshadowed by a strong ethanol smell. Taste is ok, simple with some cooked agave, pepper and some bitterness. Finish is hit and miss: some sips are ok while others are hot and unsmooth. Short finish.
This tequila is shallow, no depth in both aroma and taste. Its has the requisite agave and pepper and citrus, but also has chemicals of some sort. I think the extra distillation robs it of some flavors and scents. The price point is ridiculous.
Slight chemical/industrial smell to go with the roasted agave. I enjoy the flavour but the finish is completely out of balance, too hot with no sweetness left. It’s not a bad tequila, just not something I’d go back to.
Really nice Blanco. Price isn't great, but the taste and bottle are.
Pretty harsh. Fruit forward and very very pepper filled on the finish.
start off with just alcohol/chemicals. Don't get no agave flavor.price is not worth buying again.
Very similar to patron blanco
NOM 1173 | This definitely has some Mezcal notes to it for me. Very dry and earthy like it was fermented in clay pots. But different isn’t always bad. I still liked it. Beyond that I still found the classic notes of pepper anise very earthy and vegetal. Did get some vanilla just a little at the beginning. I liked it experienced a medium finish
NOM 1173 | Nose: vanilla, some agave, metallic, a little cream soda Palate: alcohol, agave, plastic???, cinnamon, black pepper, tad of vanilla
NOM 1459 | Tequila blanco, lote: 140323B33, bottled on 30-04-2023, tasted on 10-7-23. Aroma: light cooked agave, light acidity, light earthiness, 20 minutes later in the glass the agave note becomes slightly sweet. Palate: confirms aromas perceived but ends slightly bitter. Finish is medium, light cooked agave, earthy and slightly citrus notes persist but not too long.
great nose, OK palate
NOM 1173
NOM 1459 | Citrus, not sweet, slight spice.
NOM 1173 | 1173, purchased back in 2013, never rated until now. I agree with Lou Agave, the prettier the package, the less likely it is good juice. Definitely not additive free; slight chemical nose mixed with agave. Almond or honey, too much going on here. Not a rebuy, for sure. It’s been so long, I don’t know what I paid, but did purchase from Zee when he shipped out of state.
NOM 1459 | Agave, lime, pepper. Nice aroma but I get some vanilla not sure if they are barrel rested at all but likely not. Finish could be better. Not a bad tequila but better ones that cost less.
NOM 1459 | $100 Need to retaste. Agave dominant
AROMA - Agave, alcohol, pepper, citrus, licorice, some florals. PALATE - flavorful agave, coats the mouth well. Black pepper, licorice, mint, lemon rind influences. Fairly smooth, Nothing is really outstanding. Would be a decent sipper or used as a mixer, but is a touch pricey. There are several better options for a blanco in this price range.
It’s a decent tequila. But I was honestly a little let down. You wouldn’t be upset if this was in your glass, but there’s better blancos for cheaper
NOM 1173 | Aroma is subtle and a missing strength Flavor is agave forward with a smooth finish. Quality tequila!
NOM 1459 | Aroma - butterscotch, wet cement Flavor - sugar, melon, cinnamon Finish - smooth
Nose of cooked agave, light ethonal and butter. Soft flavor of sweet cooked agave. Quick finish. Okay but nothing special.
Smells like cake batter, soft, vanilla..

Nom 1459. Aroma of cooked agave and citrus. Flavor of cooked agave and black pepper spiciness. The spiciness lingers in the finish.
