Vessel: Glencairn Nose: Floral, Mint, Melon, Honey Palate: Vanilla, Coconut, Earthy, Honey, Cocoa Finish: Mint, Spearmint, Honey, Agave, Licorice. Knowing what I know about where this comes from, I had some high hopes for this one. I expected more pronounced and dominant flavors and aromas. What I actually got was a lot of sweetness and earthy notes, but nothing that really stood out. For me, the notes seemed a tad bit muted for what I've come to expect from 1474 as a whole. In the end, I didn't love it, bit I was far from hating as well.

Fairly thick and viscous in the mouth but not overly sweet. All agave in the mouth. The tasting was from a bottle of Lot 001 from Jan. 2007 and has held up remarkably well for a bottle that is 10 years old and open for a couple of those years. This brand predates Ocho in being made at NOM 1474 which in reality is NOM 1139 La Alteña and made by Carlos Camarena.

As soon as I popped the cork, got great old school tequila notes on the nose. As it sat in the glass, aroma got weak but the flavor was a blast of agave along with vegetal notes. The finish was short but pleasant. Empty glass had some malolactic notes and a touch of mint which I like. Got a few floaties in my bottle. BLA-001 is the only identifier I could find. Might've been the first batch.

Was really stoked to find this, since I thought it was no longer available in Alberta. I love the Reposado, but I have to say that I’m not much impressed with this expression. It’s smooth with just a little heat on the finish, but so otherwise nondescript it’s almost difficult to find further adjectives for. Almost tastes triple distilled. Not much agave, citrus, pepper, fruit - I think this stuff’s going in margaritas.

Nose was not very strong. A little bit of a harsh finish.
