NOM 1439 | This is an example of the barrel being able to salvage a less than great blanco. The weird aroma of the Tio Billy blanco is still evident, hiding under oak, but the wood totally saves it. Not much character to this, but it is drinkable. Finish is a little scratchy in the throat.

NOM 1439 | Has a defect in the smell- solvent?- but it’s covered by barrel notes of caramel and vanilla. Has an astringent finish, like the blanco.

NOM 1439 | Mexican 38% abv. versión, No. Lote LT1H20525, no bottling date, acquired recently, tasted on 8-2-24. Color: yellow to slightly dark yellow. Aroma: light cooked agave, light vanilla, hint of wood note, hint of earthiness, hint of citrus, hint of orange, after 20 minutes in the glass, agave fiber aroma emerges, the type that I associate with additives and it also becomes sweeter and sweeter, but not of the natural kind. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, aspartame type of sweetness and ends slightly cloying. Finish is medium, hint of orange, hint of earthiness with a hint of unnatural sweetness persists but not too long.
