Nose: sweet agave cooked / vanilla/ lactic / vegetal / cinnamon/ butter / apple / hint of lime / hay / hint of sage / nutmeg/ hint of chocolate/ hint of coffee/ Taste: sweet agave cooked / cinnamon/ caramel/ earth / vegetal/ mineral/ vanilla/ pear / apple/ orange / lime / mint / tea / baking spices / chocolate/ molasses/ cream soda Finish: crisp clean watery wet mouthfeel that dissolves quickly / agave, earthiness, and cinnamon spicy notes linger along with slight vegetal and lactic note until the last swallow, but then disappear rapidly This anejo has the lactic funk that the brand is known for…and it also delivers good sweet agave, cinnamon, caramel, and barrel notes that make this tequila well rounded. If you like the lactic funkiness you’ll love this expression.

The nose is very funky and cheesy off the cuff, It also has a carmel- like sweetness to it. The combination is not dissimilar to boursin or cream cheese suffed dates. Carmel and black pepper taste, a light and very airy mouthfeel.

NOM 1586 | I do love some funky town and Chamucos scratches that itch for me. This Anejo , unlike their blanco and Diablo is not so funky. Even so, it is a pleasure to the palate. The nose gives off a sweetness of agave, caramel and vanilla. The taste is very much like the nose. Sweet agave, vanilla caramel and barrel spice. The finish is so easy on the tongue as there is almost no alcohol taste but a mouth full of flavors.

NOM 1586 | I’m a blanco guy, but I found this beautifully balanced. Caramel, haze nut, with drops of cherry and spice. Most excellent!

NOM 1586 | Oak forward. Tastes like whiskey. For my money I’ll shop differently.

NOM 1558 | Apparently this on one of those brands that just gets better the longer you age it, I usually find the opposite to be true. I like this tequila because it’s balanced, it’s got enough sweet to counter the heat and earthy tones. A bit too sweet to be elite for me but a great effort, I recommend it.

NOM 1586 | Initial nose is fruit and spices. Undertones of earthiness and a different almond - cheese note. Cinnamon and berries follow. Flavors: Bold baking spice, licorice, medium pepper and heat, followed up with fruit and almonds. Nice in the mouth. Finish: Longish and balanced.

NOM 1414 | I have had this NOM 1414 bottle for some years and the juice inside is still great thanks to synthetic cork technology. 1414 is best known for a number of outstanding reposado tequilas and this anejo builds on that work. Nice barrel spice and a moderately sweet finish make this one of the better Chamuco expressions for a tequila that has moved a lot in the 8 or 9 years since it came to market. Buy these 1414 bottles when you find them in the wild.

Super mellow on the nose and it's almost hard to decipher. It has hints of cherry and almond. Nice smooth flavor that tastes a bit like vanilla. Nice long finish. A very mellow Anejo that's definitely worth the price tag. NOM 1558

Strong nose of pepper and agave. Later aromas of almond, cherry and coconut. Flavor matches aroma nearly identically with almond and cherry becoming much more evident. Finishes like it starts...nice.

Lingering notes of agave, earthiness, and cinnamon spice, accompanied by slight vegetal and lactic hints that fade rapidly after the last sip.

Smells funky and woody. There is definitely a little bit of stinky cheese but not over the top. The taste is rich and sweet. There's Caramel candy, wood, and dark figs. A touch of anise. This is fantastic for the price, and I love it but I don't think it'll be everyone's jam.

NOM 1586 | Right out of the bottle, the nose was grassy with a touch of lemon alcohol. The more it opened up the softness of sweet caramel and a vanilla came through. At first sip, the flavor profile was very subtle on the pallet. Upon entry, the light lemon alcohol is evident on the front of the tongue and perhaps a brightness that would be indicative of a highland agave, but the back of the tongue quickly takes over with a lovely medium grade caramel, vanilla , and a touch of rich chocolate all dominating the back of the tongue. The heat was more of an enjoyable tingle on the sides and roof of my mouth. I actually love this particular expression of anejo by Chamucos because there’s no doubt in my mind that this is an anejo tequila. In other words, there’s no crossover in taste lending itself to a whiskey with a slight bourbon profile. This is uniquely anejo tequila and I’m falling more in love with it with each sip.

NOM 1586 | On the nose got agave forward and then chocolate and vanilla, when I let it breath a little I got more pepper cinnamon and oak On the tongue: strong caramel vanilla chocolate flavors with the pepper and Cinnamon finish. Get hints of the agave here and there. Not a bad añejo for the price.

NOM 1558 | NOM 1558, LOTE CHA001, bottled on 23/09/2010, tasted on 7-17-24. Color: yellow to slightly dark yellow. Aroma: light cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, light vanilla, light wood note, light acidity, light citrus, hint of orange, hint of earthiness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, hint of minty sensation, good sweet & sour balance but vanilla and wood note are slightly too dominant. Finish is medium to long, light cooked agave, vanilla, light wood note, light orange with a hint of earthiness persists.

NOM 1586 | This blew my socks off. Not expecting the flavor or pure enjoyment. I’ve been disappointed of recent anejos bought over the bar. Anejo as it should be. Tasted like it was aged for 3 yrs. Dessert flavors. Bought a bottle the next day!
