NOM 1479 | Ambhar Plata NOM 1479 The nose is light. There’s a slight sweetness and some cooked agave along with a hint of bright citrus. I taste a lot of agave on the front and then the mid-pallet turns into sweet agave. There’s also some nice citrus, mostly lime. The body is a little thin but there is some lingering pepper which is nice. Overall this is a good clean blanco that’s slightly sweet and thin but there isn’t anything that’s off putting. Grab a bottle and let me know what you think. Salud!
NOM 1479 | The nose draws you in and then quickly kicks you right where you pee with the alcohol on the front palette! Medium finish, not a ton of fireworks going on for me but it’s solid.
NOM 1479 | Lote 0001 bottle 17797. Agave and minerals on the nose. In the mouth agave, alcohol, some flinty minerals that turns a bit astringent for the finish. Someone described it as baking soda. Not off base at all.
NOM 1460 | Earth and agave in the aroma and flavor, which I like, but there's this weird "barnyard-like" aroma too. I've never smelled this in any other tequila before, so I don't know what it is.
Rated blind after aeration. Aroma: had to work at it. There is an aroma, but nothing was jumping out. There's notes of agave, pepper, minerals, and slight alcohol. It's fun to watch the tears track legs down the glass on this one. This one is really smooth and not really presenting any challenge to the palate. Smooth, a little sweet. The agave and pepper are present but not overpowering. Finish isn't very long. $29 at Old Town Liquor. You can likely find better at this price point. I initially rated this one extremely harshly. I was glad to get back to it in a blind line up. However, I'm still not impressed. (0.49)
NOM 1608 | Medium burn that is a little sour. The sour taste is akin to lime or pineapple. A decent burn on the palate. It a passable tequila with or without chase , but overall would not recommend to folks to new to tequila as there are better flavour profiles out there for blancos. It has a stronger cooked agave flavour than other blancos.
NOM 1479 | Nose: very light, and what I did get was predominantly earthy notes with bits of raw agave. Taste: Vastly different than the nose, fresh agave and citrus shine immediately before fading into a light blend of citrus, mint, and mixed herbs. Finish: Mostly heat from alcohol, with a subtle sweetness
Earthy and spiced notes
NOM 1479 | Soft nose…. Earth, minerals, bit of brine, citrus, sweet spice, some alcohol. Medium-thin mouthfeel. Citrusy, with bold grapefruit bitterness and a cracked-pepper bite. Nice lingering finish. Not my kind of sipper but this pops as a mixer.
NOM 1479 | Bottle: Batch No.: LB48, Bottle No.:1226, 011019, LB48 Appearance: Clear Full review pending…
NOM 1479 | Fairly plain on the nose. Heavy alcohol/petrol presence. Sweet initially, then heavy alcohol/astringency. Light mint and light earthy finish. Too much alcohol presence for my liking. Rating lower for a maybe and no recommendation.
Some unknown to me aroma in the glass that seems to go away in your mouth. Could just be a bad allergy day for me. Tequila always makes me feel better. Good taste that lingers around a few minutes. Not on list of additive free, but it feels clean - so it should be additive free. Will be drinking it again soon - and often.
NOM 1479 | alcohol, black pepper, vanilla aftertaste
NOM 1479 | Sweet candy peppery like cinnamon hearts
NOM 1479 | Don Dario’s Austin Not much agave at the front, middle or end. Good first choice if the other choices are 1800, Jimador and Hornitos.
NOM 1479 | Mild agave, both cooked and uncooked. Hint of alcohol and slightly musty on the nose and palate. Finishes nicely with pepper and earthy notes.
NOM 1479 | Batch No. LB50. Sweet cooked agave, there is a sweetness mixed with spiciness, ethanol, bitter end.
NOM 1460 | Very unique aromas. Possible liquorice tones and very sweet. $85, $102, $115
NOM 1479 | Pretty uneventful, some agave and some muted earthy mineral tones. Finishes a touch sweeter than the entry.
NOM 1479 | Not for me. Vanilla and cake batter, high alcohol taste.
NOM 1479 | It's an average blanco loaded with citrus but it has a weird metallic or baking soda aftertaste. It's not bad but there are better blancos for the price. Tasted blind
NOM 1479 | NOM 1479.
I have spent the week in a tiny 5x10 room stressing out over a perfectionistic hobby I have called playing the violin. Tonight I gave myself the night off starting at 9 and made my way over to the only decent tequila bar I know of in Canada. While their selection hasn't grown much in the last year, I was pleasantly charmed into ordering this Ambhar and the anejo. This tequila is the opposite of practice stress. It crashes into your mouth like a port when you already have a mouthful of nutmeg-laced almonds in it and glides straight into a pepper grove before igniting in flames. It adds to my ennui of not being as good of a violinist as I wish I were but also reminds me that I HAVE chosen to do other things than count broken sound tiles in a practice room.
Quite an interesting blanco featuring a blend of highland & lowland agave. Honeysuckle notes accent the fruity nose. Full mouthfeel of raw agave that expands on the palate at entry. Pepper notes are muted in the background that fade into a lingering sweet finish. I am impressed with this blanco and will be keeping it in my rotation.
After drinking the Ambhar Anejo I was really looking forward to trying the blanco and reposado and I was able to order them all in a vertical flight on a recent trip to Vegas.
