This XA is a pleasure to smell taste and savor. The nose is nice and sweet with vanilla and caramel and baking spices. I get bananas and butterscotch. The taste is sweet with great barrel flavors. Nice and oaky, vanilla honey,

The Imperial XA from Don Fulano is truly delicious. It’s a very smooth and flavorful XA that brings flavor, crisp, clean mineral and agave fruitiness and fantastic barrel flavors together in this top o’ the line Imperial XA expression. Don Fulano expressions are all great daily sippers and easy to share with casual guests of tequila. People with heavy anti-tequila palates find Don Fulano smoother and less vegetal. The experienced tequila fan can also appreciate how much farther along the taste profile of the Imperial is beyond the typical expressions. The Don Fulano Imperial really owns up to the name.

Color is dark amber in the glass. That's the 5 years of oak aging. Nice, oily legs. Aroma of caramel, oak, black pepper and cooked agave. Wow, nice mouthfeel caramel, oak, chocolate and agave. Wonderful, long finish. A really nice alternative to an after dinner Brandy!

Oak shines through on the nose. Cherry & raisins with chocolate & vanilla present on the pallet. Finish is remarkable, lingering oak and fruit, light pepper that lingers. Another great product from 1146!

Don fulano Imperial rating based on old bottle (2014?) we've gone thru several bottles of this. really liked it. fruit agave floral brown sugar a little cinnamon a little oak. well-balanced very good sipper. i like the juice in older bottles better but haven't tried any of the new bottles since about 2019?

I have been looking for this one for a long time. Thanks to death by tequila (gracias Nastasia) I got a quick taste. While this one loses some points for value, everything else is great. Aroma is what you would expect with vanilla, butterscotch and some agave. Taste is the best part, with agave in some mild sweetness. I’m very happy it’s not overly sweet. The finish is wonderful!

Aromas of dried figs and apricots, as well as notes of caramel, oak, and cooked agave. The flavor leads in with a balanced mix of baking spices, primarily allspice and cinnamon, with caramel and agave. The finish is a delicious blend of caramel candy, as well as baking spices and Mexican chocolate.

Loads and loads of oak. Definitely overpowers the natural agave. A decent bit of caramel and light pepper on the back end. Very syrupy mouth feel. Not the best XA but definitely not the worse

Old metal label. This is one of the best XAs I've ever had. At the 1st "sniff" of this gem I knew it was going to be special. Warm cooked agave right off the bat, then some mocha, cinnamon, cherry, toffee, butterscotch, slight vanilla. Beautiful viscosity. For a 5 year XA this beauty is not oaky at all! This is my 2nd metal label DF Imperial. almost impossible to find nowadays. I had to leave some behind a few times due to level issues but wouldn't hesitate otherwise. Perfection in a gorgeous bottle, unlike other cute bottles with piss inside! GEM!

Aroma : Fruits and earth predominate. There is the lightest touch of cinnamon and agave. Taste : Light fruits with caramel and vanilla make up the sweet side of this tequila. The less prominent, spicier notes can be attributed to light oak and black pepper. The texture is very well rounded. Finish : Medium in length with a little more spice than the initial taste. The higher price makes this lose some points in value considering there are other, even better extra añejos that cost less.

Rich floral dried fruit full nose. Big butterscotch and vanilla blast. Rounded balanced vibrant entry. I’m pleasantly surprised so far. I’m liking this! This is Don Fulano at its best.

Prior rating was deleted from the database due to an error a while ago. Tasted blind with other XA. Solid and flavorful this had been a favorite. I prefer the older, larger blue ceramic bottles to the new ones.

Aroma: Much like the Anejo it has strong hints of oak but then also has notes of vanilla, caramel, and cherry. Strangely, it also has an earthy quality that I would normally associate with a blanco. Flavor: It definitely has a strong oak flavor with hints of cinnamon and cherry. Finish: nice long smooth finish. It also leaves your mouth feeling a little dry which I think is a unique characteristic.

Aroma of caramel, dirt and citrus. Incredibly smooth, slightly sweet flavors of caramel, vanilla and cinnamon. Fairly tannic and mouth-drying but not overly so. Great finish that lingers for a good, long time.

This tequila has bright peat, cinnamon and earthy aromas, and a delightful almost fruity flavor. The finish seems to bring a few surprises as it delivers waves of delicious complexity. This is a real treat.

This tequila's aromas of earth and agave don't hint at the delicious, slightly sweet carmel, anise taste that hits your palate upon the first sip. A treat for sure, but a bit pricey.

Tasting the Don Fulano imperial blind, I had no idea as to how much I would dig this juice! For a tequila that has been aged for 5 years (in I believe, heavy charred casks) there is a ton of agave in the nose and in the taste! Notes of cooked agave, dry earth, orange peel, cinnamon, white pepper, dark caramel, toffee, coffee, leather and honey this tequila has a lot of heavy oak nots, but not overly sweet. I'm totally diggin' it!

We stumbled upon a bar in Washington DC that had every Don Fulano, and had to try the Extra Anejo. This EA has a very smooth and appealing aroma with agave, oak, and caramel. The taste is surprisingly strong and smooth, with agave, black pepper, and caramel with a peppery and vegetal finish. I really like the finish on this EA, as it has a pleasantly smooth burn. Very nice sipper and highly recommend!
