Medallion bottle from 2009. Fantastic yet simple, but not too simple to mute some subtle complexities.
Definitely a lot of black pepper on the palate. Notes of caramel and vanilla present but not overbearing. Some bite to it immediately after opening but mellowed out after letting it settle in my glass for 10 minutes.
Not bad, little bit of agave on the nose with lots of wood on the nose and pallet. medium burn / pepper on the finish. Tough to beat the price for a decent Anejo. Would work nice with a cigar
Really not much difference between the repo and Añejo other than more sweetness on the finish of the Añejo. It’s ok, nothing special.
Fruity, and caramel aromas with some spice and oak. Nice mouth feel with a spicy, peppery start. Followed up with notes of agave, nuts, ripe red fruits and a velvety texture. There is an almost floral nuance commingling in there.
Another Sazerac Imports bottle. This añejo from 2007 tastes very similar to the Orgullo añejo and coming from the same distillery is understandable. Barrel spice and some leather and tobacco notes on the nose translate to more of the same in the mouth. The alcohol of the reposado is tamed by the longer aging however the finish is shorter as a result. Nice classic aged tequila.
Sweet and nutty- tastes like almond brittle. Heavy on cooked agave and toasted almonds.
Nutty
I thought I would give a less expensive Anejo a try and it’s ok. Aroma is nice- agave- caramel- vanilla- and some barrel oakiness. On the palate it’s caramel vanilla with some agave. It has some whiskey barrel notes with light pepper. It is good for the price. The finish is short with hints of agave and whiskey barrel notes lingering a few seconds.
nose citrus spice alcohol taste orange citrus cinnamon-honey spice with hot finish
Caramel alcohol forward
Nice tequila and hard to beat at this price point. Traditional in flavor profile, nice mouth Carmel and vanilla with a nice unique flowery finish. it's a solid sipper.
Aroma- oaky, Taste- oaky, smooth, not harsh. would recommend honestly
Old school bottle. $28 for this anejo is a bargain!
Aroma - caramel, vanilla, fruity, agave, light aroma on añejo Palate - vanilla, caramel, light agave, fruity, easy to drink and lightly sweet. Again for 20.99 750 ml amazing añejo budget tequila. This will make really good margaritas and good for sipping!
Sweet, smooth, a little peppery $8.5 HH GOOD oakey tequila
Bottle from 2002. Caramel, vanilla, fruit and agave sweetness. Reminds me of Arette Anejo.
Really hard to beat an Añejo of this caliber for the price. The value really boosts up the rating.
This brick oven anejo Tequila is a great deal. the flavors include citrus, vanilla, and butterscotch. Has a smooth, lightly sweet, peppery finish.
Smoother than Olmeca Altos añejo, same price point. A little bit of a sweetness. Good value tequila.
More heat than the average Anejo, however not off putting The finish is long, real long. At first a bit medicinal but if you wait long enough it mellows to a little sweetness. Overall not bad but I don’t think I’ll be looking to bring a bottle home.
An aroma that is predominantly full of spices, with a minute hint of mint. The hue is a bit on the lighter side for an añejo. It has a bite (not terrible, but still there), but you still taste flavors of pepper, vanilla, and floral aspects thoroughout. Oak element is minimal and the finish is quick. Blink and you miss it, but there is something there. Unfortunately I was unable to properly classify it.
My first review of this tequila was in 2018 if I recall. Score 84 pts. Update: 2/7/21- This was perhaps the second or third Añejo I bought for myself. Dozens of tastings with different bottles bottles on my bar, it’s still a great value and pretty decent tequila.

I have the reposado version on my bar as a bargain priced mixer and sipper, so I was curious to try the añejo. This newly opened bottle had an interesting Aroma of cooked agave, orange peel and mint. The flavor was more traditional with vanilla, cooked agave, black pepper and oak. It had a nice, medium finish. Extra points for the bargain price.
