El Carmen. Unopened bottle.
A friend shared a glass with me, and wow—first Cuervo I’ve enjoyed! This one was 38% ABV purchased in 2004. Personally didn’t detect additives, it just tasted like a delicious aged tequila. Ah, the good ole days for JC.
This is for the bottle shown, 1989 bottle of añejo, sealed and rested 15 minutes. Very buttery, with a rich natural sweetness to the oak, dark cherry.

Another ATM bottle provided by a guest. Nice richly aged Añejo that shows JC could make very good tequila before money became king.
This was an outstanding Anejo for its time, well made, beautifully balanced, cooked agave and wood. Not your kids Jose Cuervo
NOM 1104 | NOM 1104. Aroma: Strong oak notes that really overpowers everything else. There is a hint of vanilla but it's very subtle. Flavor: Again, strong oak notes but now the vanilla starts to show through more. Reminds me of Familia but a little sweeter. There is also a slight hint of chocolate.
NOM 1104 | NOM 1104. Relatively subtle aroma is dominated by oak with some caramel and something almost like turpentine (not in a bad way). Caramel, vanilla and spice flavor that clearly shows barrel age but is not overly oaky. Definite similarities to the Reserva de la Familia but significantly tamed down on the oak (I prefer this milder oak flavor). Nice finish but relatively short.

Have not seen this in many years but back in the day it was my go to sipper. wish I had kept a few bottles before they disappeared.
