Rating is for 2007 XA, the first that was released in the wonderful Ocho lineup. A very lightly aged product for a 3 year old XA this follows the whole Tomas Estes philosophy of minimal impact from the barrel. May not be a favorite if you are looking for a more traditional extra aged product. edit: Copied from my prior review for Ocho XA

Aroma: Lots of caramel, cherry and candy with a slight hint of leather and coffee. As it mellows, there's also a bit of olive. The sweeter notes definitely are the most dominant Flavor: Lots of cherry, leather and oak. Definitely not as sweet as I expected but still very enjoyable. Finish: Smooth but a little light on the finish. Still very solid but just lacking a slight bit,

Incredible aroma with distinct sweetness made up of fruit and vanilla. However, through all of the complexity in the aroma the agave still shines through. For an XA, this is impressive: great flavor with sweet caramel and vanilla followed by a nice spice. This is not a traditional barrel-bomb that you find in so many aged tequilas. The finish is relatively short. 12-24-2017 (Annual XA tasting) Ocho XA side-by-side
