Agave funk very present on this one. Cooked agave, wet minerality, buttery, touch of vanilla. Surprisingly soft on the palate for 98proof, sweet tropical fruit presence matched with biscoff cookie like savoriness. With a finish that just keeps on giving long after your sip.

On the nose, loads of agave, wet stone, lime and general citrus notes. A nice earthiness to it, but not overly “dull”, if that makes sense. Definitely minerals and a ‘green’ vegetal like note. Good nose. As it opens up more, there’s a fragrant, aromatic fruity sweetness. The palate is immediately hit with a spiciness, and loads of agave. Lots of minerality, and a very juicy citrus hit. Some very clear cinnamon, pineapple rind, and as it opens up, there’s a nice fruitiness to it. Damn good stuff from Gran Dovejo. Theres a lot of complexity here, it opens up so much. I may do a 2nd review on it later on because this keeps evolving for a while. I adore high proof tequilas, and this immediately shot up to the top 3 for me. Killer value at $48, definitely up there with Tapatio 110 and Fortaleza SS.

Cooked agave, minerality and black pepper on the nose with a light smell of citrus, like a citrus peel… cooked agave on the tongue with some initial heat, because of the high proof. Black pepper also present with a citrus finish

Nose- baked agave, honey, dried herbs, butter, cinnamon. Surprisingly sweet and savory for a Blanco. Taste- caramelized agave, anise, stewed fruit, bell pepper, almond, and very faint alcohol. Unique flavor profile- especially for a high proof and unaged spirit. Creamy full bodied mouth feel. Finish- incredibly soft and clean. Value- um yeah this is an amazing tequila and high proof, and less than $60. One of my new favorites.

Aroma: I get alcohol on the nose with this more than most high proofs. Some fruit, like pear. Cooked agave and baking spices… almost like nutmeg? Flavor: Cooked agave, there’s a tangyness I’m picking up that I can’t put my finger on. I think I like it. More pear. A little minerality comes through on the back end. The alcohol doesn’t show up in the flavor nearly as much as the aroma. It’s a nice pop of alcohol but not overpowering. Finish: There’s a little bite on the back end. Agave comes through on the finish with a little more minerality and baking spice… little bit of that pear comes through on the finish. Overall: I like this tequila and would certainly drink it again. I’d get another bottle because it’s interesting to me. A little subtle on the nose and the flavors good but nothing really bold like I’d expect from a higher proof.

Aroma : Cooked agave with herbal, vegetal notes and some earth and mineral tones. Flavor : Tons of creamy, sweet cooked agave with butter, vanilla, and nutty undertones. There is also some pepper, cinnamon, and baking spices. This is the right amount of spice and sweetness, with a full-flavored oily mouthfeel. Finish : Long lasting with a more mineral quality than the initial taste, slightly bitter.

Aromas of cooked agave, wet earth, and minerals. Sweet, rounded agave and mineral taste with a light, lingering finish. For a high proof (49% abv) it is highly drinkable and feels very authentic.

Lote 1 bottle 608 Nose: Ripe tree fruit. Lime, citrus rind, bold caramelized ripe agave, root vegetables, earthiness and river rocks. Somewhat floral. Some herbal notes present: thyme and rosemary. Flavor: The mouth feel is explosive. It is teeming with pepper and brown spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, enfolded in big buttery agave slathered vanilla/almond creaminess. Almost salty. Finish isn’t as complex as the aromas & flavor. A hint of bitterness lingers.

Grand Dovejo high-proof Blanco is one of the best available. The phenomenal buttery sweet cooked agave and natural taste is outstanding. I put this in the upper echelon of high-proof natural Blancos.

Initial impression was total sweet bomb - not unpleasant, but the nose had a dominant toasted marshmallow aroma at first. Sipping over an hour it opened up quite a bit. Cooked agave, citrus, some sweet earthiness akin to roasted root vegetable, notable minerality on the palate brings balance. High proof concentrates flavor but does not taste boozy to me. Like others, I purchased this for around $50 and think it’s incredible value. It’s a unique counterpoint to the herbal and vegetal blancos that currently dominate my shelf. Cheers!

Love this HP. Aroma is vivid and complex. Fruity, floral, peppery and has minerals in the back. Full of agave. This is why I Love HPs, they bring some heat but they are full of flavor and have a strong aroma. Pallet - sweet agave and minerals. Peppery, and has a great manageable heat to it. Not as sweet as the aroma, but still great. Heat is more than tolerable - but the flavor is full. Value 10/10. Can’t believe you can find a Sergio Cruz HP for under $50.

On palate, plenty agave, pepper, mint, anise, floral, buttery and briny notes. Medium to short finish. Overall, it’s an excellent HP, especially for the price.
