Aroma is fresh, bright and sweet. (Also, distinctly less “toasted” than the ‘07). Again, Agave is clearly present just as in the 2007. Flavor has some significant upfront spice that is nicely smoothed out by a little sweetness. The finish lingers with a nice sweet spice. I definitely prefer this one to the 2007. 12-24-2017 (Annual XA tasting) Ocho XA side-by-side

Aroma: Much more mild than the 2007. There's a slight bit of caramel and vanilla and also some red apple. But, not as fragrant as the last. Flavor: Lots of pepper with a bit of oak. Some vanilla starts to come through on the finish. Again, much like the flavor, it's very mild. Finish: Some smoke on the finish but still not a crazy finish. Fairly mild but comparable to the '07.

Incredible XA with a near perfect blend of flavors. As it says in the notes- "This Extra Anejo was aged the minimum time of three years in oak barrels used 6-7 times previously. This was done to retain as much of the agave essence without covering it with the oak influence of the barrels.".... They got it right...Like it a lot!

A gift from a friend this 2008 XA from Ocho has a wonderful nose and seems to have a slightly richer aroma and taste than the 2007.
