Nose : Some initial fruitiness, that rapidly gives way to the aroma I found in the blanco - smokiness and essence of tires. Some spices try to fight their way out of this dominant “cheap Mezcal” aroma, but they fail to really emerge... Flavor: Pepper, anise, a drop of honey and bitter smokey burning tires. This can’t be the intended flavor profile?!?

Mexican 38% abv. version, marbete is from 2012, tasted on 1-15-24. Color: yellow. Aroma: light sweet cooked agave, slightly citrus, hint of orange, hint of wood note, slightly earthy, light resinous sweetness. Palate: confirms aromas perceived, light black pepper, good sweet sour and citrus balance, fresh. Through my retronasal I smell a light dusty/earthy sensation. Finish is medium to medium long, cooked agave with a hint of sweetness, orange, citrus, light vanilla and a hint of wood note persists.
