Earthy and fruity on the nose. Tasting agave, earth, cinnamon, citrus rind. This is very nice!

Had all three, as someone stated, very similar in profile/flavors with sameness probably due to process and differences due to agaves used in infusion. Aromas of strong cooked agave, cinnamon, vanilla, spices and faint caramel. Flavor of cooked agave, burnt sugar, some jalapeño/oily residue with certain sweetness. A nice change of pace and good conversation piece for sure. A must for any collection.

My favorite of all three expressions. The profile complexity and finish are just espectacular!

Cooked agave on the nose, some earthiness, and some baking spices. There’s a distinct spiciness to it that is interesting. Nutmeg. If I didn’t know better, I’d say this was barrel aged, there are some similar notes there. It almost has that barrel spice on the nose. A touch of black pepper. A noticeable sweetness. On the palate, it is spicy indeed! Immediately baking spices, and pepper, with agave on the back end and in the finish. Very oily, heavy body. This is very good, I will almost certainly be seeking out a bottle and looking to try the rest of the lineup.

lot 002 from 2019. I need to think on this for a bit...so much complexity.

Tequila Curado Cupreata This is an infused 100% Blue Weber Agave Blanco. They take 1000 liters of 100 proof Blanco and then place 21 kgs of cooked Cupreata from José Guadalupe Pérez in Michoacán into cotton bags that are then seeped for 5 days. It’s then filtered to remove particles and proofed to 40% abv - 80 proof. The color comes from the infusion. This tequila isn’t aged nor rested in oak. Originally this was going to be an extension to the Tequila Ocho line but it’s an independent brand with 2 other infusions. On the nose the cooked agave is present but it isn’t as pronounced as it is in the Weber or Espadin infused tequilas. There’s a slight spiciness and warmth to the nose. I taste the cooked agave but it’s enveloped in baking spices and with the agave sweetness it tastes like it’s slightly Aged in American Oak, which it isn’t. The spices intensify into the medium finish where the depth of flavors continue to unravel. Overall this is the most complex of the three and the most interesting but they are all delicious and uniquely different.

Lot BC-CU- 002 01/10/2019 Nose: Cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and an aroma very similar to oak barreling. Honey like agave sweetness, earthiness, some smokey notes, and bread dough. Flavor: Smokiness and pepper make the first assault. The baking spices and slightly bitter pepper follow in the next wave. Fairly thick in the mouth with a sweetness tinged with white pepper. I have sampled all three of the currently available Curados de Don Tomas. There are distinctions among them, but there is a curious “sameness” to them.

I agree with Taste Agaves assessment in both nose and palate. Sweet on the nose, vanilla for sure. The palate is agave, smoke, pepper, mezcal-esque, with a sweet, smoke finish for me. I enjoyed it very much

Some vanilla and caramel on nose. On taste, getting various agave flavors with notes of a Sotol and Mezcal. Sweetness, bitterness, citrus, light anise, smoke, and pepper. Great option when I want to sip on something different.

I’m glad to find this one in a liquor store in Puerto, Nuevo Mexico. The aroma and the taste are dissimilar in wonderful ways. The aroma changes as I let it sit in the glass for around 15 minutes. The aroma is a little underwhelming, but it does have a good subtle notes of cooked agave, fruit, and maybe even dark brown sugar. Once again, though very light. The taste is where this one shines it’s incredibly thick and oily in the mouth. Instantly you get delicious cooked agave, and a really robust earthiness that I really appreciate. While I don’t get any smoky flavor, I think I’m getting the other infused agave taste. Quite complex. The finish is good and long and stays with the earthy profile. I might have to go back to the store and get the other two varieties.

LOT BC-CU-001. Bottled on 26/12/2018 in La Alteña. Color: very light yellow. Aroma: sweet cooked agave! Mineral, green, stone fruit sweetness, earthy. Palate: smoked sweet agave, slightly acidic & lactic, green grass, menthol, earthy. Finish is medium to long on the flavors mentioned above but at the very end it tastes like a sweet cooked yam that is slightly cloying.

I think this is a pretty special sipper. Lots of agave aroma, little cinnamon, nutmeg, clove & super slight smokiness. Big agave flavor with cinnamon, spice & mild honey. Somewhat long finish turning to mild white pepper. I think this is going to be a special occasion sipper at my house.

I was skeptical about this one but got it on sale for forty dollars. Let me just say that after one sip my skepticism immediately disappeared. This stuff is amazing. It’s bursting with interesting flavors and none of the artificial tequila nonsense. It's even got some smokiness to it. That fades into the background quickly though and the agave shines through. It is a little sweeter than many additive free tequilas but not overly so. I'm already contemplating buying some more... it's that good.

Curado (Cupreata) Lot BC-CU-003 13/05/2020 $53 USD (Ferment & Still) Overall: Sensational and easy to sip.  The Cupreata retains the wonderful qualities of Tequila Ocho's blanco line and adds the warmth characteristics of barrel aging without any barrel aging.  This is a bargain. Nose: Bright, sweet cooked agave, cinnamon earthiness, cherry fruits, and a chalk like minerality.   A touch of nutmeg and a green peppery note at the end. Taste: Delicious mouth feel with a bright entry and balance of cinnamon heat and sweet cooked agave. The heat level and flavor of the green pepper spices is really nice. Finish: Medium length with that gives a nice fullness of increasing warmth and spices.

The nose didn't really grab my attention, but oh my god the flavor is incredible. The cooked agave really shines through, but there is a subtle smokiness that really grows on you as you drink it. Anyone who enjoys cupreata mezcales will appreciate the depth of flavor that the cupreata adds to this. The finish is warm and soothing. An absolutely perfect tequila to sip neat after dinner. Now I have to try their other expressions!

Smoky notes in the aroma and taste from the infused cupreata, but not to an overwhelming degree. A very unique, and very enjoyable blanco.

One of the best sippers I’ve ever had. You can easily drink it neat. Heard about it from a buddy and asked my local store if they could get it. So glad they could. Definitely not the best nose but wow is it complex! Cinnamon, agave and spices. Sweet agave up front and spicy but not too spicy on the finish/after taste. Cant wait to try the other varieties!

My first impression of the nose, flavor and finish were not a wow but I quickly warmed up to to subtleties of each stage. The cupreata definitely adds a unique flavor and finish which I like very much. Overall a smooth expression with an abundance of unique flavors.
