Cinnamon and some clove in the aroma with a bit of caramel. Flavor begins with peppery heat, shifts to a slight sweetness and fruit then finishes with a little heat. Finish is short to medium. I liked the reposado quite a bit better than the blanco. Still, nothing special here. 12/17/2023

I’m picking up agave, cinnamon, and green apple on the nose. I’ve seen others mention lactic funk but I don’t get any of that. Tasting notes include agave, black pepper, nutmeg, honey, oak with a slight bitter twang and whisky finish. Enjoyable.

This is one funky Repo! You have to let it sit and open up. Floral, funky, oaky, very light citrus. The finish is funky. Overall I like it because it’s so different floral and funky. Hard to recommend something like this in my opinion.

Note: This is the Mexican 35% ABV release. Nose: Pretty subtle nose. Light bourbon and cider aromas. Warm barrel spice, vanilla, powdered ginger and nutmeg. Freshly cut hay and wet soil. Flavor: Cinnamon, cloves, some bitter pepper notes and toasted filberts. This has some body to it despite the lower alcohol level. The sweet agave isn’t buried in barreling, but there is a decided bitterness that detracts. The Mexican Blanco and Repo versions are a different line of expressions from the 40% US version, which has different ownership.

LOT: 18R/M View: almost transparent, a very pale yellow, if it were a blind tasting and they didn't tell me it was a reposado, I would probably pass it off as a white because of the color. Very good tear adhesion for alcohol content (35% Mexican version). Freshly served; Aroma: very discreet, a little woody and herbaceous but light, it is difficult for me to identify any scent. Slight minerality. I mix it a little and astringency comes out from the wood and citrus fruits like lemon grass and orange. Flavor: Sweetness and wood, a little astringency from the wood and black pepper. Citrus, orange peel. Bitter aftertaste like orange peel. I let it sit for 15 minutes. Aroma: It continues to be very discreet. I notice the same characteristics as at the beginning. Taste: Slightly sweet and woody, a little astringent. It doesn't seem to me that the aromas have changed too much. Pleasant and discreet flavor.

Floral notes on the nose with a hint of vanilla. Light mouthfeel. More floral notes on the palate with a touch of vegetal and agave as well. Decent finish that hangs in for a little. Not bad for a repo.

Worth seeking out. Good flavor and aroma overall. Mild cream cheese-like note in the finish.

For me, a gourmand solid sipper, reminds me of JW Blue Label, but with cooked agave. This is the one that you can get grandpa to drink and love. Your nose is stabbed with oak, whiskey, vanilla, cooked agave, cooked pineapple, cinnamon, and ethyl, which for once, in my opinion actually compliments the overall aroma. The taste, not far from the nose with oak, caramel, molasses, cooked agave, fig, whiskey, light alcohol, and peppery trails. A Peppery sweet finish reminiscent of Dr. Pepper, watery minute alcohol, and agave essence. Sleeper hit, sign me up for another bottle!

Tepozan's Reposado is another wonderful spirit that follows the quality and value of their stellar Blanco ($50 @ Old Town). The repo is aged 4 months in American Bourbon barrels. Nose: Subtle. Cooked agave, whiskey bourbon barrels influences, cinammon and nutmeg baking spices upnfront. Black pepper and honey. Hints of vanilla and apple cider. Taste: Mild butteryness, a nice black pepper warmth, and a sweet honey mouthfeel. More substantial than the blanco with a nice vibrant profile. The usual suspects: Cooked agave, baking spices. Overall, a very smooth and balanced flavor profile. Finish: To quote Frank Galvez, " Not a long finish, but the kind that keeps you salivating for another sip.'

80 proof very lactic on the nose. very similar to the blanco expression (wich I really enjoyed). agave is strong and defined woodsy and aromatics of spice and fruits. flavor is intense of roasted agave and dehydrated papaya. green notes like fresh cut cactus. alot of bourbon flavor. oak and vanilla I really feel the pepper and cinnamon attacking my tounge and tonsils. nice throat and upper chest heat. loving the mouth coat. not a long finish, but the kind that keeps you salivating for another sip. I'm hoping for a high proof repo in the near future.
