2023 Potrero Grande | Nose: Minerals, apricots and a spritz of lemon. Buttery sweet agave notes. Pecan pralines. A deep rich aroma profile. Flavor: Anise, pepper punch, salinity. Medium body. Floral undertones accompany orchard fruitiness. Licorice tongue teases throughout. Just a suggestion of barreling. Nice blend of heat and sweet on the finish.

2023 Potrero Grande | this reposado is very light, almost clear to the eye Nose- Nice cooked agave upfront that flows into an earthiness like dirt or clay, and a little vegetal Taste- nice cinnamon that flows from beginning to end, minerality, oak bitterness, and some brine Finish- medium to long finish with brine and minerality staying on the tongue

2023 Potrero Grande | Agave on nose, minimal barrel notes which is expected for Ocho. Palate is pretty quiet but get a slight sweetness on the backend of the palate that lingers with some pepper. The finish tingles the tongue a little bit which is always nice

2023 San Jerónimo | Nose: Cinnamon, cloves, honey and creamy vanilla. Bright as a Christmas cookie. Faint incense, wood and moss. Light colored pitted fruit notes: peach and apricots. Applesauce and agave. Light and playful aromas. Flavor: Spicy, fruity. Licorice and pepper zing. Silk, saline, butter and bite. Sweetness, sumptuous texture and white pepper lurk and linger.

2022 Cerro Del Gallo | This Repo is going to get bonus points from me for uniqueness of aromas. It has the characteristic DNA of an Ocho, dripping with ripe agave, but with a different combination of aromas in the fusion. Nose: The pungent smell of a green plank of lumber. Under ripe pineapple and overripe pineapples. A whiff of raw potato. Traces of sweet baking spices. Background herbals. A light floral presence. Sweetly spiced zest of orange. Flavor: Thick and sweet. Anise and vanilla beans. Green and tropical. Pepper with some back palate bite. Grapefruit pith. Sliced sweet pippin apples. Warming spices. Finish tenaciously hangs in there. Amazing texture.

2022 La Estancia | Nose: Minerals and lime pith. Grassiness. Wafts of cooking agave. Cinnamon, nuts and brown sugars caramelizing. Hints of pepper, basil and oregano. Flavor: Green vegetative notes. A gentle black and white pepper spike, settling into sweetness and spice. Baked pineapple-vanilla-cream. Medium weight. A nice lingering palate feel holds your attention. A last moment hit of anise. This Vintage/Field has some unique characteristics. I will revisit soon with evolving thoughts.

2021 La Mula | Nose: tropical fruit, pineapple, melon, orange zest, banana, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, and sweet cooked agave Flavor: cooked agave sweetness, tropical fruit, sweet cinnamon, and caramelized brown sugar Finish: medium starts with some fruitiness with some spiciness in the middle and ends with a touch of bitter chocolate This would pair well with a Jerk chicken or pork dinner

2021 La Mula | Nose: Fruity with a tropical flair: pineapple, apples, cantaloupe, lemon and orange zest. A warm Caribbean spice breeze gently wafts aromas of allspice, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla bean, nutmeg and powdered ginger. Just a pinch of caraway and jerk heat pepper. Although very light in color, there is an element of trace wood - perhaps a freshly milled oak stave? Flavors: Bursting tropical and fruity flavors, toasted nuts and punchy spices. “Cinnamon red hot” candy. Ambrosial, velvety sweetness with a kiss of butterscotch, balanced with salinity and penetrating pepper blows. Natural mature agave sweetness that only fully ripe agaves with 300g/kg of fermentable sugars could provide. A slight amargo/bitter dark chocolate/ expresó undertone emerges. Then mellows and fades out.

Tequila Ocho 2016 Puerta Del Aire Reposado- Light & Tasty

This 2016 single estate Reposado is very light all around, but has a complicated and exciting nose. Take the time to find all the aromas. There isn't a strong flavor profile, and it has very little wood presence, which is the point of showcasing the terro
