Mexican release. 38% and $215 pesos. Nose: Thyme, minerals, ripe pitted fruit and a hint of banana. Flavor: Vanilla, caramel, cinnamon red hots and black pepper and jalapeño. Rich mouth feel, and a hint of bourbon.

An average sipper with some rough edges, busy oak notes and a confusing finish that leaves traces of roasted walnuts and caramel

Very light amber in the glass. Aroma of cooked agave, anise, astringent and vanilla. Flavor of black pepper, anise, vanilla and a hint of agave. Not much finish.

Slightly sweet, very smooth. Not much of an alcohol burn.

Mexican 38% abv. version, lote: LLAR0321914, bottled on 10-08-2018, tasted on 12-28-23. Color: yellow. Aroma: hint of cooked agave, hint of vanilla, creamy, slightly acidic, light earthiness. Palate: hint of green vegetal note, mineral, raw agave, quite different from the nose. Finish is short to medium, hint of raw agave, green vegetal notes persist but quite short. Hint of black pepper.

The nose isn’t harsh but it’s unpleasant. It’s a drinkable tequila, in the sense that I’ll drink it so as not to waste it. I won’t find myself buying this for myself (‘twas a gift).

In my first inhale, I thought it had a “nice” aroma. Upon my second and subsequent inhales, I get a very strong, lemony aroma, like a soap, but absolutely no agave. Taste and short finish are of strong alcohol. I see others like it better than I did.

The barreling helped to mask the flavor of the blanco.

Recently it’s degraded in quality a little. It’s even started giving my wife a headache; not sure if they changed production methods as they’ve grown. A shame.

Chemical and alcohol aroma; some oak, agave. Agave is mostly lost on the tongue. Astringent. NOM 1513

Agave, pepper, oak and a slight alcohol on the nosing. On the palate, heat, oak, and agave are present - but it is not smooth or balanced. Useful for mixed drinks, but there are better options.

Nose of alcohol and honey. Swirling stirs up aromas of baked bread and sugar with a pleasant bitterness. First sip is a blast of agave, cinnamon, pepper. Now I’m getting oak in the nose. Lots of spice here. Agave and spice on finish, even pot roast and caramelized onions- wow. Super delicious, phenomenal value. Good luck finding a repo to match this for value besides Cimarron. Big flavor. $20/750 mL at TW

Good bargin sipper. $18 at TW&M. Grass, vegetal, cooked agave in the nose. Rich bourbon barrel flavors of oak, vanilla, fruit & spice. It finishes with an earthy, slightly smoky, honey finish. In the middle is an artificial sweetness that is slightly off putting. In mixed drinks it would go well with sour or bitter flavors.

Nose is a little salty and sour, underlying notes of citrus. Flavor is more enjoyable, has a nice balance of sweetness and black pepper. A bit of spice at the end.
